My College Life in Gauhati Commerce College

Overall Rating
Gauhati Commerce College is likely the best institute of commerce in the northeast region and this is one of the factors which made me choose it. Moreover I've heard from my elder sister who is an alumnus of this college that it provides placement after degree. I've heard so much about this college that I also wanted to enroll in it despite it’s quite far from my home. The name and reputation of Gauhati Commerce College is something you can't find anywhere else. Whenever you say you are from Gauhati Commerce College people look at you in a bright way in Assam as it's one of the most prestigious colleges.
 

Academics Rating
The course I choose is Bachelor in Commerce which is a common course for commerce students and maximum of students do it. A plus factor of this course is that people can simultaneously do professional courses like CA and CS with it but yes the schedule will be hectic but it's not impossible many of the students are doing it. The student of my college needs at least an average of 80 percentages for admission in this college. There are two exams per year and two mid terms or sessional every year, one sessional per semester and one semester final (a semester consist of 6 months).
The fees I have to pay are Rs. 5,500 per semester and examination fees of Rs. 1,500 per semester but I have availed for the free admission so I have to pay nothing for admission just the examination fees. Some of the students also applied for Ishan Uday Scholarship which pays Rs. 5,000 per month every semester.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is friendly and approachable. They teach us like we are their own children, whenever I go to them with any of my doubt they do their best to solve our problems. They also guide us in our careers and give us advice from time to time, really lucky to have teachers like them in our life. The teachers’ uses blackboards, online classes if someone missed the lecture, and we also have group discussion about previous topics. We have bonded so well with the faculty; all of the students are friendly and approachable.
 

Placement Rating
I am currently pursuing B.Com at Gauhati Commerce College so I don't know how much is offered in placements.
 

Hostel Rating
The Gauhati Commerce College has residential facilities like hostel in their campus. I am not a part of the hostel as I live in Guwahati so I can't provide much information about the hostel facility.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The Gauhati Commerce College campus is huge; there are many buildings with lots and lots of classrooms. No other college is this huge in Guwahati. We have a library, a computer lab, a gym, a cafeteria, a playground and many other facilities. All the rooms are spacious with a capacity of 80 students per class. Our ground also has many trees and plants which increases the ambience of the college. The favorite part of the college is cafeteria where all the students gather, sing and communicate.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life is a rollercoaster. We made lots and lots of memories as I'm near my graduation and I can say the last five years of my college life were like a dream and I'm attached with this college as it gave me this memories for lifetime. From Saraswati Puja to Freshers welcoming new students to Cultural Fests. From students election rally to annual sports week our college have everything and I've been through all of this with my friends in another home called Gauhati Commerce College.

    GCC is one of the most reputed colleges of commerce in the whole northeastern region. Apart from the academic success it offers placement opportunities to the students. It has a very safe environment and a very supportive faculty. The students are also very heart warming. However the student capacity as compared to the teachers is very high.     Well being a government college, Gauhati Commerce College is average. Sometimes, you might feel very annoyed of college and sometimes you might feel satisfied to be here. Everything depends upon you and your way of living throughout the college years. It's a quite popular college and you probably won't be disappointed.   • GCC Guwahati: Affordable Fees and Quality Commerce Education

    In Guwahati, GCC is the best College for Commerce stream. It's located Near Chandmari and can be reached directly via bus. Best facilities are available for commerce background students. For B.Com course, there are 6 semesters generally but recently due to the introduction of New Education Policy (NEP), there will be 8 semesters.
