Overall Rating
My experience in AEC Guwahati is most of time good. With a green campus, the environment of campus is quite cool and calm. The faculty is also good. My experience is not short as I have been here only for 6 months. I chose this college over other state engineering college because it is the oldest Engineering college in northeast. Placement is also good. Hence, it is good in all aspect than other Engineering college.
 

Academics Rating
B.Tech Civil Engineering always focuses on our surrounding world. They make world the better place through their infrastructure. The placements of the course are very high. Curriculum includes some more Practical subjects, which will develop more skills. I gave CEE exam to get admission into this college. My first choice was Civil branch & this college and I am very happy that I got both of these in first preference. Student need to be above 21 and have at least 60% marks in 10+2. The examinations are moderate and paper is coming as per ASTU norms. Many students cannot pass the exam and many score very good.
The fee is Rs. 15,000 if candidate belongs to EWS category. For other categories, around Rs. 1,500 needs to be paid. The registration fee in 1st semester end exam is Rs. 4,000. There are various scholarship present there such as Ishan Uday Scholarship, Pragati Girls Scholarship, NEC Merit Cum Scholarship, SC ST Scholarship, etc.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty to student ratio is very high. Most of the faculties are very calm and good. They teach in blackboard mainly also with group discussion. The student faculty’s relation is very good. Their teaching is student oriented and very understandable. Most of the teachers are teaching very nicely.
 

Placement Rating
From the 7th semester, the students get campus placement. There are more than 50 good companies including Bajaj, LG, L & T constructions, Gammon, Tata, NRL, ONGC, and many more offering different jobs. The highest package in this year is 24 LPA from Chemical Engineering. The average package is 10 to 12 LPA. The percentage of student placement is very good. More than 60 percent students are placed every year. Some of them established their own startups. My plan is to get a good job and a dream of civil services.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel rooms are good. They are available in twin sharing. The bathroom and toilets are also clean. The mess food is not up to the mark. One time security fee of hostel is Rs. 15,000 and monthly, students have to pay Rs. 3,000.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus academic blocks is very well structured, huge, and beautiful. It gives an aesthetic vibe. The campus area is very huge with hostels. Most of classrooms are normal. Some of classrooms have more advanced faculties. The library is very good with large number of books. Labs are above average. Auditorium is not very big. Canteen provides average food but food is hygienic. The sports facilities are also good. There are huge fields in the campus.
 

Campus Rating
Different types of festivals are celebrated in AEC Guwahati such as teacher’s day, Gandhi Jayanti, Saraswati Puja, Diwali, Independence, Republic Day, etc. There are different types of clubs that encourage the students to participate in sport and extra curriculum activities. Jam club, cricket club, debate club, basketball club, literally society, and media cell are available.

    Civil engineering department and electrical engineering department is the oldest department of Assam Engineering College. It is situated in Jalukbari. The campus is too peaceful for study. I am a student of Electrical Engineering in Assam Engineering College.     Overall I can say that AEC is an esteemed institution with experienced faculties. It provides a good environment to excel technically. Many technical fests and competitions are held here giving a learning experience to the students.     There is enough greenery around the campus. The teachers are knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Seniors are very helpful and I made some really good friends here. The annual fest - Pyrokinesis is very enjoyable. Also tech fest like Tech Axom and Udhbhavanum are held which provides students a good platform to showcase their distinct talents.
