KIIT, Bhubaneswar's Admission and Exam Structure

KIIT campus is quite huge with a lot of greenery. I choose this Institute because it is a tier 1 Institute and near to my hometown. Institute is quite good if you want to enjoy Institute life with good campus. If you are passionate about your future then you can opt for it. Make sure you have proper skill and decent CGPA for a good placement. Students get different exposure here according to their hobbies. Sports are also well maintained in KIIT.

Requirements for taking admission in KIIT B.Tech are that you should have 60 percent in 12th board with PCM as core subject. You have to give KIITEE and score decent marks to get in your preferred branch. You can also get admitted through JEE Main score. Management quota is also available through agents but they will charge you extra management fees along with course fee. Every semester exams are conducted twice. The exams conducted are End semester and mid semester. Mid semester is of 20 marks and end semester is of 50 marks. Rest 30 marks is based on internal evaluation by subject teacher. Irrelevant courses are also provided which are not required in details but are just to maintain the credits.

Fee structure at KIIT is quite high and it increases every year. In my admission year institutional fee is Rs. 1,93,000 per semester and Rs. 75,000 are also taken by Institute during admission. In exchange of Rs. 75,000 they provide a decent laptop, All semester books and required equipments. Hostel fee is according to the type of hostel that you have opted. Per year including hostel they charge around Rs. 5-7 lakh. Scholarships are also provided to those who scored above 95 percentile in JEE or KITEE exam. Some students also get scholarships if they score in top 10 performers in semester exams. Terms and conditions for scholarship to continue is that you have to just maintain 75 percent attendance in all subjects and 7.5 CGPA in all semester. Reserved category and international students often get some discount in fees.

Faculty members are both average and good at KIIT. According to your chosen section you will get faculties. Some faculties are quite cooperative and approachable for any assistance and query of students. Some students also give you the horrible experience of Institute life. Some are also little bit strict but teach pretty good. In each section there are almost 70-80 students and all are taught by one teacher for each subject. Some teachers are good in problem solving. I think if your luck is good and you get good teachers please utilize them with full effort in academics, research and placements.

Placements scenario is not so good in KIIT. You can say it’s mediocre because it's students intake is very high in CS branch. If you have the right domain with right skills and decent CGPA you can get a decent and even quite good package. If you are talking about just placements then usually all the students get placed and some opt for higher studies or entrance exams. Placements oriented classes start from your 4th semester and it's frequency increases in higher semesters. Highest package of last year according to Institute data was 63 lpa by a startup company Yugabyte. Some top companies that visit the Campus are Capgemini, HSBC, JP Morgan, Dell, HP, l & T, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Deloitte and other moderate startup companies. Average package is around 5 lpa for CS department.

Around 25 hostels are present for each boys and girls. Hostels are quite decent. These are well furnished with chair, table, cupboards with AC, Non AC rooms and both attached washroom and common washroom. Separate hostel for girls and boys are provided. Mess food is quite decent and it differs from hostel to hostel. Mess fee is 25K per semester and for 3 bedded Non-AC hostel fees is Rs. 28,000 per semester. Other hostels have little high fees around Rs. 40-60,000 per semester. Hostel in time are quite good from 2nd year onwards. For first year hostel rules are very strict.

KIIT Campus is very big. It is spread in 1,000 acres of land. It consists of 26 campuses dedicated to different departments. Special sports campus is also provided for sport enthusiasts. Also in every campus sports complex are also present for students and teachers. All departments have their own libraries and there is also a central library for whole University. Every department has its own auditorium. The favorite part of KIIT is that campus is well maintained with lots of greenery.

Overall campus life of KIIT is good. You will get many places to hangout. Many societies and clubs are also present. You can be a part of them to engage in co-curricular activities and hobbies. Every year many small events and big fests i.e. KIIT fest is conducted with full enthusiasm. You will also get to know about various engagement activities, workshops, society events, seminars on the basis of your domain.
