Campus Life at Maitreyi College: Clubs, Events, and More

First of all, I got in this college through CUET examination. As i wanted to study in Delhi university. When I first got the college, I started to research about it on my own like NIRF rankings and other stuff and I found all of it impressive. The college is extremely beautiful. It’s a women college, so safety is good. The reason I chose this college was because it’s part of Delhi University’s south campus, which is famous for its exposer and fests.

I chose to do B.Com from Maitreyi College, as I loved Accounting since my school time. The eligibility criteria is simple, you need to have Commerce subjects in 12th standard. The admission for this college and course are done through CUET examination and further through the process of counseling. The exams are held semester wise means in every 6 months. Apart from these exams, tests and assignments are held and given time to time. Our studies also comprise of different kind of seminars and webinars. All these make us confident and ready for the future to represent ourselves without any fear.

So total yearly fee for this program is Rs. 13,000. Apart from this fee, you don't have to invest or pay much. During exam seasons, you have to pay the examination fee which would be a between Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,000 rupees. During the admission process, you to pay the registration and course selection fee, which would differ category wise but can be between Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000 again.

There are different teachers of teaching different subjects. All the faculty members are usually from PhD background, which kind of make them knowledgeable in their respective subjects. The teachers usually explains stuff from the books but whenever it is required, they teach us using PPTs and smart boards as well. The faculty is good with what they teach. if you ask them anything, they'll try their best to make you understand that topic. There are sufficient teachers according to the number of students in the college. The teachers are quite friendly and approachable as they are not arrogant and won't degrade you just for asking your doubts.

There is placement cell in our college, which helps students to find their dream jobs. I am new, I am not too much familiar with it. But according to seniors, the average package of the college is 4 LPA And highest package for our course was 24 LPA.

Yes, a newly constructed girl’s hostel is present at our college. The living facilities of around 200 people are present in the hostels. The students can choose from double or triple sharing rooms. I myself do not live in the college hostels but some of my friends do live in hostel and according to them hostel, food is good even. The hygiene facilities are good. Monthly fee for hostel is Rs. 15,000 that amounts to be Rs. 1,80,000 on an annual basis. No outsiders are allowed in the hostels even if they are family. The gates close around 6 PM in the evening.

The infrastructure of the college is quite good. It consists of three different blocks, which are old building, new Science block, and Science block. The campus size is decent of 10 acres. The locality is amazing as it is the embassy area due to which the security is always very high. The classrooms are also of decent size and have the capacity of at least 50 people at a time and 150 people in big rooms. There are science labs, library, seminar halls, 3 auditoriums, and also a amphitheater. The canteen is also good. The favorite thing about this college is its gardens. Maitreyi College has the best rock gardens in the whole DU.

The campus life is good and quite happening. The college is very nice and helpful as students are not arrogant. There are many clubs for each departments. You can be a part of any club that you want. I personally am in corporate and finance society of college. There are many fests and events that keep on happening all around the year. For example, ‘Sparkles’: Diwali mela and ‘Rhapsody’: the annual fest that takes place in the month of February every year.
