A Guide Through Admissions, Academics, & Activities in NIT Rourkela

Overall Rating
I joined NIT Rourkela after JoSAA counseling after I qualified in JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). As this institute has good NIRF ranking me, I freezed it in 6th round of counseling. The overall experience of studying here is good. This campus invites many companies for placements, it is better to join here. The campus is so big that students can explore all the places and every necessity of students is available inside the campus only.
 

Academics Rating
The course chosen by me is Electronics and Communication Engineering in B.Tech, a 4-year course. As I have a high interest regarding solving circuits, I chose this branch. Eligibility criteria to join this institute is qualifying JEE Main and acquiring a good rank, which provides seat at JoSAA counseling. Admission process consists of submitting all the required documents during first registration day, which will be scheduled by the campus. There will be 2 exams in a semester: one mid sem exam and the other end sem exam. Academics here tested my dedication over work where I used to complete whole syllabus diligently.
My fee for a semester varies from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 including tuition fee and hostel fee. As my family income is less than 1 LPA, there was a separate category of fee structure for me. There will be many scholarships for students studying here. One of them was NSP (National Scholarship Portal) where students can apply for scholarships.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members are decent as they have good subject to deliver. The are provided with quarters(houses) inside the campus and they come to their respective department to teach us. They are also provided with seperate chambers in the department.They use whiteboard sometimes blackboard and also PPTs to teach us.The professors here are highly talented they have done their phd in top colleges like IIT Karaghpur etc.The teacherr-student ratio is 1:20 approximately. They are easily approachable and are very friendly.
 

Placement Rating
There is a placement cell for placements and internships in NIT Rourkela. The cell helps students by conducting training programs to mentor them for placements and internships. The cells will be sharing all the resources to students. The average package offered is 19 LPA and the highest lays around 60 to 80 LPA. Tops companies like Google, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, and Qualcomm comes to the campus for recruitments.
 

Hostel Rating
The institute offers residential facilities to students. There are 3 girl’s hostels and 9 boy’s hostels. The intake of girl’s hostel lies in between 500 to 1000. These hostels provide with Wi-Fi, mess, sports, etc. The mess food is good and the hygiene is decent. They serve 4 meals per day; Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Hostel fee are Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 25,000 for me. I am enjoying staying in hostel with my friends.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are multiple academic blocks, which might be a bit confusing for freshers. Each department has a block. NIT Rourkela is located in Odisha. The seating capacity of classrooms varies. There are extra academic facilities like library and reading rooms along with Wi-Fi connectivity. The is an auditorium (BBA). In addition, there are many seminar halls in the main building. There is a dispensary, in case of emergencies. There is a GYM and swimming pool inside the campus. These features complement my academic experience.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life is as good as I can gain a lot of knowledge, chill out with friends, and explore many places. The crowd at our institute is a mix of students from different states, religions, cultures etc. There are many clubs (around 80) and I am part of two clubs: Designer in Finance Club and a technical team member in Short Circuit Club. There are 4 fests conducted by the clubs and we will be celebrating festivals in DTS ground of the campus. Participating in all the events with friends is so exciting.

    In an overall view, my institute, NIT Rourkela, is a perfect university with an area of 1,200 acres including many more splendid scenic views and amazing water bodies.     Honestly, overall experience for at NIT, Rourkela is excellent. Here you'll find very interesting clubs to grow very well in career which you find more interesting. Our institute has very good NIRF ranking. Here you'll get perfect environment for your professional growth.   • Campus Life at NIT Rourkela: Clubs, Events, and Social Life

    If I talk about experience, my overall experience is good. You get smart people here because they qualify India's one of the toughest exam. Academics are good here also technology aware environment is provided. All the things are good here but the best thing I consider is placements. Placements of this campus make to choose it.     The restaurant and night canteen are best and the food of these restaurants are so tasty that you will never miss you home food. Now inside the campus there are Domino's and Keventers store. This Institute has very beautiful landscape which looks amazing during winters.
