Pros and Cons of SVNIT College

Overall Rating
The overall experience about the Institute is average. It has many pros and cons. The factor that made me choose SVNIT Institute is due it’s placement opportunities and scope. Also as it is government operated it provides more opportunities for placement. There is no football ground available as compared to other Institutes. It is listed in top 2 Institutes in Gujarat. I think overall it is good but there are many cons too like hostel life is average as per mess food. Rest is okay.
 

Academics Rating
The course chosen by me is Electronics and VlSI Engineering. The motivation for choosing it is due to the developing need of semiconductor as a electronics product. The entry requirements for this Institute is that you need to qualify JEE main with good score i.e. almost 97 percentile. The admission process in the Institute is done by JOSAA and CSAB. The frequency of exam is 2 in one semester, Mid semester and end semester. The academics have prepared us very well for real life problems through lab and workshops.
The fee of the chosen course is about Rs. 70,000 per semester and yearly It is almost Rs. 1,44,000. The fee includes almost Rs. 62,500 tuition fees per semester, Rs. 5,000 registration fee, Rs. 10,000 Institute development fee and Rs. 5,000 for deposit. The Institute also provides special discount to students whose family income is less than Rs. 1,00,000; full fee waiver is provided to such students. The students whose family income is between 1,00,000 to 5,00,000 their two third fee is waived off.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members in our Institute of electronics and VLSI departments are IIT graduates or NIT graduates. The faculty members are from different parts of India. The method of their teaching includes group discussions, ppts and special doubt solving sessions. The faculty is very liberal and they solve our problems by adjusting the lecture if any event or functions are there. The teacher student ratio is about 1:10. My experience of bonding with the faculty members is very good. Almost all the faculty members are friendly and supportive.
 

Placement Rating
The placement cell is very effective and efficient in our Institute. They invite all top leading companies to our Institute for placements. The cell arranges interviews in the Institute for jobs and this helps the students to secure good placement. The placement in the Institute is conducted in many parts. Placement of computer science and electronics departments gets first chance due to its high need for technical skills. The average package of the Institute is 14 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
The Institute provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls separately. It also has different hostel for different year students to avoid ragging. The total rooms in the hostel are almost 500. The hostel is below average because its government and due to its less fee, it’s not maintained regularly. The mess food is below aerage and they provide it 3 times. The annual hostel fee is Rs. 10,000 and mess fee is Rs. 58,000 annually. This is one of my worst nightmares living here.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of the Institute is mediocre and it is not maintained regularly. There are no proper sports facilities and it lacks auditorium facility. The library is one of the best places in Institute and the classrooms are average too. My favorite part of the Institute is library.
 

Campus Rating
Overall the campus life in this Institute is average and it’s all about new experiences. The Institute life that I had expected, it did not meet it. There are many clubs in the Institute like technical and cultural club. The Institute organizes many fests like Mindbend and Sparsh. There are also many sports tournaments in the Institute that is one of the best part here. The Institute also organized many events regularly.

    SVNIT is part of one of the top institutes of India. It provides students all the required facilities and encourages them to develop and learn skills on their own. There is nothing missing in the campus life at SVNIT. The academic facilities are top class. It would be difficult to find other institutes with similar facilities.
