Miranda House Tops NIRF Rankings Year After Year

Miranda house offers an enriching and holistic academic experience, combining a strong focus on academics with vibrant extracurricular opportunities. There we have highly qualified faculty, modern infrastructure, well equipped laboratories and library. The college secures first position in NIRF ranking for consecutive seven years. This is the main reason for me to choose this college. It's infrastructure, safe environment, faculty support makes it different from others. Also Miranda house has well equipped labs and instrumental lab which make it different from other Institutions.

In Miranda House College I am pursuing B.Sc. (hons.) chemistry. The motive behind choosing this course is that I want to built my own cosmetic brand or go to forensic department. The eligibility criteria for this course is to have any three science subject and a language. We have to appear for CUET and after this we have to fill preference list. In my course we have to give 2 exams in one year. The academic is not really related to real life challenge, I think it is easy than life challenges.

We have to pay year wise. Fee for my course is almost Rs. 19k per year which includes all the fees like tuition, admission and registration. Yes, there is special discount on fees which is provided to PWD and orphan students. College offers different types of scholarship opportunities for students. They offer almost 10k to 40k scholarships to students.

Miranda House's Chemistry Department is staffed by highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty members. For instance, Prof. Mallika Pathak, a computational chemist, has been with the department since 2004 and has an extensive publication record, including research papers, book chapters, and a patent granted in 2017. Similarly, Dr. Sharda Mahilkar Sonkar, an alumna of Miranda House, is a trained synthetic organic chemist with numerous publications in peer-reviewed international journals. The department also includes other dedicated educators like Dr. Nutan Rani and Dr. Malti Sharma, who have been contributing to the institution since 2008 and 2009, respectively. Professor teaching methods include blackboard, PPT’s, etc. Faculty members are very open and easily accessible for students. They are there with the students in every problem weather it is personal or educational. We have 1:5 teacher student ratio in mentee mentor session.

There is a placement cell present in Miranda house which helps students to acquire jobs in the industry by collaboration with companies and industries. This gives internship opportunities and sessions. I saw PW recruiting this year for batch 2025. I didn't experience any type of placement till now. The highest package offered was 21 lakh per annum and average package was 6 lakh per annum. The companies that visit the college are PW, DE shaw, policy bazar, Deloitte, etc.

Yes, college offer residential facilities but there are lesser seats available per department per year. Miranda house is a woman college so only women hostel is available. Mess food quality is best and they maintain hygiene also. Hostel fees structure is yearly around Rs. 80 to 90 k. There are hostel rules and timings to go out gets closed at night around 10:30pm. I don't stay in hostel so I don't have experience about that.

Miranda house offers best classrooms which are spacious and some are with AC and smart board. Labs are well equipped and the Library is spacious and students have access to almost all books that they want including e-books. Canteen is quite expensive but overall its good. They maintain hygiene and provide better quality and quantity of food. The favorite place of the college is sports ground and science block. In my course we need well equipped labs and equipment so we have three well equipped labs along with an instrumental lab which gives us better opportunity and experience to explore.

My college is not so much crowded. There are many societies like NSS, NCC, Aavya, Vatavarn, Rangmanch, etc. There are many extracurricular activities organized by college like inter-department competitions. There we have many fests and events in fest season. I feel very comfortable in my campus and have access for everything. I feel confident and overwhelmed in campus. My campus life is just amazing but I have to take classes regularly due to maintaining 75% attendance. I missed many conferences and sessions to do it.
