CUET and Admission Process for B.Com (Hons.) at Gargi College

Gargi College is amongst the most reputable colleges in University of Delhi for women. It has multiple departments providing a holistic environment for studies and extracurricular. As a student from the commerce department, the faculty is exceptionally good. They are highly skilled and supportive. The students are also competent and provided a healthy environment for overall growth. The college lies in the heart of South Delhi and provides a safe environment for women. I have never felt unsafe or vulnerable in or outside the campus.

I am currently enrolled in B.Com (Hons.) and chose this course because of my interest and business acumen. The entry requirements after the New Education Policy are through sitting for the CUET exam. For the B.Com (Hons.) course one needs to give the following combination of exams: English + 2 Core commerce subjects (Accounts, Economics or Business studies). I secured a raw score of 775/800 and a normalized score of 755/800 (eligibility score). I was allotted this college in my first list. The course comprises of 3 years with an option of extending for 4 years, with 2 semesters each year. Each semester comprises of one end-sem examination, whose credits are varied according to the chosen subjects. There is an optimum blend of both practical and theoretical subjects in our course that fuels all sorts or learning for a commerce student.

The fees at Gargi College for the course are around Rs. 18,000 that are paid every year. The fees also changes every year but there isn’t a huge difference. Every semester we pay the examination fee of approximately Rs. 1,600, which varies according to the chosen subjects. Gargi College also provides scholarship options to students from the EWS category.

The faculty is really good and competent. Being from the commerce department, the teachers are experienced and well versed with the concepts. The classroom environment is also super engaging and collaborative. Teachers also provide assistance in research work and projects outside of the curriculum. They are very approachable inside or outside the campus. Teachers also provide regular resources and materials for the course and subject, with regular assignments and real life projects to work on.

Many companies such as the Big 4 (Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and PwC) visit our campus every year. And also other companies such as Bain, D.E Shaw, Zomato, ICICI Bank, American Express, etc. The overall placement assistance is top notch and ensures placements for the skilled students.

There are no hostel services provided by the college.

The campus is very big with a very large sports ground. We have different academic blocks for each department with distinguished classrooms assigned for the departments. Each classroom is big enough to accommodate almost 70 students at a time. We have one auditorium enough for 1000 students to sit and one seminar hall to accommodate 200 students. There is Nescafe and Mother Dairy on campus that provides refreshments and food to the students all day long. The campus is a very safe space for the girls to practice holistic development. The locality is also very safe for girls.

The campus life is a mix of fun and competition. The students have to juggle between academics and extracurricular all the time. There are multiple clubs and societies such as dance, music, arts, photography, film making, consulting, placement, etc. that gives students to practice real life skills. These clubs makes a huge part in the overall college experience. The annual cultural festival “Reverie” sparks the fest feeling in the month of February that gives a necessary break to the academic community.
