Kurukshetra University: My Experience of Campus & Hostel Life

Overall Rating
I opted for this university because it has good hostel facilities and quality education. The lab work is good here as compared to other universities. The university has obtained highest NAAC grade in Haryana. The teachers here are supportive and provide quality education to students. The security system is very important condition for students especially girls students is good here. There are proper timing for entry and exit in girl’s hostel.
 

Academics Rating
The eligibility criteria include 55% marks in Bachelor’s, if you are applying for masters. The admission process includes an entrance exam of 100 marks without any negative marking. On basis of marks obtained in this entrance exam, a merit list is prepared. As per merit list, students are called for document verification. There is relaxation in marks for lower category students. In master’s course and for Bachelor’s course, semester wise exams are there. There are two sessional exams in each semester.
The fee of my course is about Rs. 25,000 for two years, which has to be paid in two installments per year. There are scholarships offered by government like NSP, Harchatravarti, etc.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty in my department is knowledgeable and experienced. Their teaching way is good, the teachers are friendly, and environment is such that students are able to communicate with teachers easily and ask their doubts. About 15 to 18 teachers are there for 120 students. There are mentor mentee meetings, where students can discuss their problems with their mentor teacher. There is also availability of smart classes where PPTs are used for better understanding of tropic by students.
 

Placement Rating
Many departments in this university provide placements to many students like MBA, Pharmaceuticals, etc. Many companies often visit university and recruit students on basis of their performance and interview.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel facilities in this university are good. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. For girls, there are 13 hostel buildings. The annual fee is about Rs. 12,800. The quality of mess food is okay and there is maintained proper hygiene in hostels on daily basis.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus is quite good. There is department library, and central library, which has many subject related books and other books like scriptures, holy books, etc. There is seminar room, different labs for different specializations, etc. Here in this university, there is an auditorium also. There are many canteens, university market, hostel markets, university health centre with ambulance service and proper security system. There are museums in university like Dharohar and a museum about 1857 war.
 

Campus Rating
My overall experience is good in campus as well as in hostel. There are extracurricular activities like sports meet usually at the end of February. There are celebrations of festivals like Diwali, Lohri, etc. trip, freshers & farewell parties, annual function are organized. There is organization of ‘Ratnavali’ in October, where students install their stalls of food items and other handmade things. In Ratnavali, there is some other.
