My Journey in SVNIT Surat

Overall Rating
The campus experience is good. There are enough facilities for the students. There are a vast number of clubs for students. This is good for vegetarians, as it does not provide non-veg in mess. The institute is not very big compared to other top NITs. The workload is not much, which gives you time for sports and other activities.
 

Academics Rating
I chose Electronics Engineering with interest in hardware. To join this institute, you have to give JEE Main and you have to score good percentile. After scoring good rank in JEE Main, you have to apply in JoSAA counseling, if your rank is enough you can get admission this. Per semester, there will be one mid-sem exam and one end-sem exam. In between, there will also be quizzes and assignments. There will be practicals also which shows you the applications of academics in real life.
I paid around 1.40 Lakh for 1st semester (including hostel and mess). The tuition fee is Rs. 99,000 for 1st semester but it will be Rs. 72,000 for remaining semesters. During JoSAA counseling, they will charge Rs. 5,000. There will be fee remissions provided to categories. As I belong to EWS category, my complete tuition fee will be refunded.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of SVNIT Surat is well and good. Some of them are former IITians and most of them have completed PhD. Specially in our Electronics department we have digital monitor. Almost all teachers use PPTs. As they are all highly educated, their problem solving abilities are good. There will be 60 to 80 students on average in a class. The faculty are nice to students they will always respond to our doubts.
 

Placement Rating
There is Career Development Cell (CDC) in SVNIT Surat, which helps students to prepare for interviews and jobs. The cell will help you to prepare your CV. Some of the renowned companies that visited are PayTm, Nvidia, IBM, Adani, Jio, Infosys, Bajaj etc.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have hostel facility in our institute. There will be 2 students in a room, which is spacious for two. Boy’s and girl’s hostels are separated. Boys are not allowed to girl’s hostels and vice versa. There are only two hostels for girls and 7 hostels for boys. The mess is not up to the mark. Hostel fee is around Rs. 20,000.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There is a separate block for every branch. Campus is 250 acres but most of it is filled with trees, which makes it feel like small campus. The best building in our institute is library both in interior and outer design. There are seminar halls in some departments and some blocks are dedicated for labs. There is no auditorium in the institute, which is the biggest drawback. We have a canteen, health care centre, and a big ground, also some courts for sports. My favorite place is library I mean it is too good.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is average. You have to get into clubs otherwise, you will be bored. The crowd is big compared to others. Yes, there are many clubs and I am trying to join. There will be programs conducted by clubs, which will be interesting. There will be two major fests in a year, one is freshers, and other is Sparsh. However, you cannot forget the LIT fest, which is awesome.

    I am studying Electronics & Communication Engineering in SVNIT Surat. In my opinion, the academics in the institute are quite good. They are teaching us by using digital boards.     The unique thing about this college is that from the first year onwards they teach according to their branch, unlike other colleges which teach the same syllabus for whole 1st year without consideration of their branch. College timings are very comfortable. It is located inside the city so travelling is very comfortable.
