ISHM Kolkata's BBA in Aviation

To be honest, my overall experience is pretty good in ISHM Kolkata. All the faculties are very experienced. Many facilities are provided by this college, which the other aviation colleges in Kolkata don't provide like the on-ground trainings, firefighter trainings, ramp management, etc. giving students a great opportunity to learn practically and attentively.

I have enrolled myself in BBA in Aviation for getting a good opportunity in the Aviation sector where I can grow myself in this field and fetch a good amount for securing my future. The eligibility criteria for the students is very simple. They have to get a minimum of 50% marks in their board exams on getting which they become eligible for admission. In every 2 months, one summative exam is held in the college and every 6 months, one semester exam is held. The exams are very important as what these subjects teach, those are very important when we will be working in the organization. So the students need to go through these subjects very carefully.

The total course fee for BBA in Aviation is Rs. 4,30,000. The course fee for the 1st year is around Rs. 1,70,000 The course fees for the 2nd year of college is around Rs. 1,30,000. The course fees for the 3rd year of college is around Rs. 1,30,000. However, the students who take admission early can get a scholarship benefit of Rs. 50,000. To get this scholarship, the students just have to give a small General Knowledge test, which is not very tough. On passing this test, they become eligible for getting this scholarship reducing the total course fees to Rs. 3,80,000.

The faculty of ISHM Kolkata is very good. All the facilities are an expert of their respective fields. Our Head of Department of Aviation, Mr. Ananda Ganguli teach us many things, which he experienced during his student days. He gives us a lot of real life problematic scenarios and also how to handle those. Not only this he teaches us everything in such has a way that we don’t need to learn everything worded by word. His way of teaching everything practically helps us a lot in understanding concepts. The teacher to student ratio is around 17:90. The bonding between the teachers and the students is very strong and friendly.

After the end of 5th semester, students become eligible for placements and interviews. However, there are no internship opportunities available in the aviation sector. Many reputed big airline companies have already visited our college like Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, etc. giving a good average package of around Rs. 2,40,000 per year. The highest package, which a student fetched was around Rs. 4,50,000 per year for the position of cabin crew. I haven't applied for any jobs as I'm in my 3rd semester now.

The college does not provide any hostel facilities. However, there are a large number of PGs that are available near by the college in the areas like Karunamayee, Chingrighata, Kestopur, etc. providing accommodation facilities. The room rents are also very affordable averaging around Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 9,000.

ISHM Kolkata has its own library with a huge collection of journals, textbooks and a lot more. The campus is also very large and the location where it's situated is also very calm and peaceful. The classrooms are big enough to accommodate large numbers of students. Every classroom has screen projectors for better & practical understanding of subjects. Medical facilities are also available. Security of the college is also good. No trespassing is allowed. My favorite thing of the college infrastructure structure are the practical labs. The practical labs are well designed for students for their good and improved learning. The college has its very own fine-dining restaurant named 'Sizzle by ISHM’, which is run by the college faculties and some of the college students who are placed or for training purposes.

My overall campus life is just excellent. The college crowd is not that much large but also not very less. There are no clubs in the college. Every month, there is some fest going in our college as if recently we had cake-mixing ceremony in the month of December. Other fests like Fashion week, Grooming week, etc. are also organized. Several occasions are also celebrated like Independence day, Republic day, Puja celebrations, etc. The college experience of mine is just too good. I'm really happy with this college. The college organizes an ‘Annual Sports Competition’ every year in the month of January.
