NIT Silchar: Fee Structure and Scholarship Opportunities

I am a student at NIT Silchar pursuing B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering. Overall my experience in NIT Silchar is good. I have made lots of friends here. The reason I choose NIT Silchar is that it is very close to my home town i.e. just 8 hours and the NIRF ranking is also good. As the placement is also excellent, so I would like to tell everyone that if you are get into NIT Silchar go for that.

Firstly I wanted to choose CSE but I was not getting that so I chose NIT Silchar ECE which turned out to be the right decision for me. The Institute takes admission through entrance examination known as JEE Main. The minimum marks to get into NIT Silchar is 140 marks. The students should pass class 12 exam with more than 75%marks. There are exams like mid sem, minor test, class test, and most importantly end semester examination. The minor test is for half an hour, mid sem is for 1 hour, and most important end semester is for 2 hours. The paper difficulty is medium. If a student will study thoroughly then he/she can get good marks.

I am paying Rs. 22,000 for the tuition fees as I am an OBC student with family income below 1 lakh. I am paying Rs. 45k for the mess fees. I am paying Rs. 11,000 for registration fees, admission fees, gym fees, water bill, etc. Many scholarships are available for students on merit basis like reliance scholarship, future for excellence scholarship, PM Yashasvi, SBI Asha, etc.

All the professors at NIT Silchar are well educated. All have very good subject knowledge and they are very friendly. They are the best teachers of the country. They are using blackboard and white board for teaching us. They make the problems look very easy. There is 1 professor for 90 students. I have personal contact numbers of many professors who guide me in every step of life. They are very sincere about their classes.

The placements in NIT Silchar are excellent. This year the highest placement is 60 LPA and average package is 15 LPA. The training and placement cell is excellent and is trying their best to bring the best companies to the Institute. This year the companies visited the campus are Wipro, Microsoft, Google, Atlassian, etc.

In NIT Silchar, hostel is allocated on the basis of JEE Main rank. There are two students in one room with each having one single table, bed, and wardrobe. The girls and boys are placed in the separate hostel. The mess is good here. There is both vegetarian and non vegetarian food available. The hostel fee is Rs. 3,000 per year. The in time is 8pm.

The academic block is good at NIT Silchar. All the Institute works are done here. We have 625 acres large campus. We have a large classroom with a capacity of 150 students at a time. The Institute has Asia's largest digital library, so every book is available here. The lab equipments are average. We have seminar halls, auditorium, etc. We have canteen in almost every hostel. There are grounds for every sports like cricket, football, basketball, kabaddi, badminton, etc.

The overall campus life is good. The classes are organized from Monday to Friday at NIT Silchar. There is excellent crowd in the Institute which can be seen during the fests happening in the month of November and February. There are many clubs in our Institute like music club, dance club, coding club, specific branch clubs, etc. There are regular events organized by the Institute authorities during Saturday and Sunday. There are two fests that happen in Institute namely Tecnoesis and Incadesence. The campus life is very chill. The students here are very friendly. There are many places to visit in the Institute itself. We are having 25 lakes in the Institute wherein some lakes have boating facility.
