IIEBM Indus Business School PGDM Review By Ruchitha Devu

I was perturbed as coming here and not getting into the top 100 B-Schools but if I look back how my life and career has shaped post IIEBM, all I can say it’s not disappointing. IIEBMS Pune has stuck to the basics of PGDM studies as nothing different or fancy was tried here. Since, the start was good at the institute things just started falling in place as IIEBM Pune is not in line with its peers like Symbiosis, Flames, PUMBA, or MIT but still is one of the best. There was a clump of everything as the campus had workshop areas, labs, and conference rooms designed in a way that learning at campus was as good as going for industrial visits which we did quite often as Hinjewadi Infotech Park was close to our campus. So, some soft skills bunted, wrapped and gifted to us as IIEBM has offered everything that they could through small little world that they have created of their own.

Academics here was anything but not ill-timed. The semester was timely started and timely ended unlike many colleges that disturb their schedule often. So, on that note IIEBM did well because we used to have 3 weeks semester breaks and which is high in case of PGDM studies but mental fatigue does take over in PGDM studies and colleges understands that very well and therefore awarded us some small and one big semester breaks. We had to be on the road for most of the time as academics here sailed like a parasailing sail at table land in Panchgani. Some case studies went way over my head as in want to target the offspring, things went rather too quickly.

Faculties knew exactly how to fill the last nail in the coffin. They started well, mid was as I said before way over my head but come the end and the final revision that was done made us understand everything in detail. In PGDM, a lot of self-study has to be done but faculties commitment was 100% towards us. They showed real intent and made sure that we are work all day at office. They were really aggressive in their mindset and wanted us to be the same because some aggressiveness is required to get through this high intense course. There was no choice of timid given to us by our faculties as we have to be on song all the days that we spent at the campus.

We were provided internships to some of the biggest names in the business and the automakers were humming in 2019, so a lot of auto companies like Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Skoda have come for placement. I always wanted to work in an old pedigree and there were some new age start-ups who probably had more market value on papers but since they weren’t an old pedigree, I chose the former companies. The packages offered were largely in line with 2-tier B-Schools and IIEBM placement percentage was also quite high.

It’s a residential campus and the hostel was inside the premises. It was a lovely hostel to be a part of as our seniors never showed their superiority. Perhaps they joined us on every hostel event and at the student lounge that was there at the hostel. We also did the same once we became juniors. The best part was that we had students from various states of India so a mix breed used to stay at the hostel. The hostel food was average as there were a lot of south Indian dishes on the menu but they were nowhere near to be called authentic. Breakfast was the best meal at the hostel and I skipped the dinner often.

The main building was divided in two parts and it had some of the nicest classrooms and board rooms. There was an open theatre and all our college events usually took there. There was an auditorium too but it was mostly used for guest lectures. The ground floor of the building was also used as an auditorium as students were seen dancing around and forming groups and sitting there till the main building gates weren’t closed. Pune is a city where a lot of emphasize is given to sports and we had an indoor sporting arena called PT Usha arena.

Along with corporate responsibilities, Indus Business School also taught us about our social responsibilities too. Many companies also ran their campaigns at the campus and one such was Colgate Max Fresh ad campaign. Many corporate guests were invited from the likes of Indira Nooyi to Anand Mahindra. Along with social events, the college also hosted cultural events too and in all fairness the campus life at Indus was best to none.
