Jagran Lakecity University BBA Review By Mukesh Prajapat

JLU Bhopal was more like because I didn’t have a choice I took admissions here. JLU was the only university that offered admissions to students who even had just the passing marks. I thought had 55% in HSC and therefore I missed out on top colleges like IPER Bhopal, and Innovative Commerce College which were my first-choice colleges. Anyways talking about JLU things weren’t as smooth as it looked it will sail. I had a tough time there academically because nothing special to learn there and more so because the faculties themselves were not interested in teaching us. If you don’t mind, the infrastructure was world class because the classrooms were like never seen before. The university was new and therefore they were more inclined in building club culture and making the college social media presence high so they gave more importance to events. They also asked students to start the clubs and get involved with it. Those who form clubs and does activities there will get an added advantage in the internals. This was the level of education there as our social gatherings for club meeting will get us marks but not on what we do in exams.

I can’t even call them poor because academics didn’t existed. The most pathetic rule was that the university gates would remain close till 4 pm and students had no right to cross the gates until and unless they have permissions in writing. How was it possible because this can never happen, to convince HOD, it would take two hours and meanwhile it will be 4 pm. The classes were a decorative piece which should be handled with care because they were meant for clicking selfies but not translating education.

I was shocked to see BBA passed out students of IPER and other government or not so famous college people were our faculty members. I was like seriously, how can this happen. JLU management and faculty said we will make JLU the best university in central India and students who migrate to Indore or Gwalior will never do so. Well, if you have such faculties who were themselves not aware of the subjects fully then forget the state, you will even lose all your presence that you have in Bhopal as well. Faculties used to take extra care of the outsiders because they were special and dear to them but not the Bhopal domicile students.

When we said why not placements opportunities for us, they were like enroll for MBA because BBA students are not skilled enough to get jobs. When you yourself don’t do anything and made us go to placement cell for training for a month who didn’t taught us anything apart from how to communicate. Training was more of spoken English classes as we were made to learn English and nothing else in that training. Well, if only English speaking can get one jobs then the unemployment rate in India would have gone down significantly.

I know everyone want review of this part as the university is without a doubt one of the best. Both campus of the universities had some great hostels and especially our campus where there in campus and off-campus hostels available for students. Both the hostels though were strict as irrespective of your gender, you had to follow the timelines if not anything else. To make sure students come back on time, the TV room was opened for students as long as they wanted. The hostel had many recreation facilities too, so students themselves were happy staying at the hostel.

JLU campus was so big that every month you can change your hangout or gathering spots. We kept changing in the 1st year because I was quite regular at the university. From second year onwards though even, the infrastructure looked waste as classes attendance was not compulsory as one fake medical certificate was enough to fill the attendance. The university has around 4-5 libraries and the central library is the best decorative piece of the campus. Even without any work, we used to go there because the building was great and a refreshment stall was just close to that. The playgrounds were serene because Bhopal doesn’t have an international sports stadium so JLU decided to have one at its campus and if you don’t mind, please just have a look at it once. So, infrastructure was in line with that of IITs or any top universities.

More than day scholars it were the hostellers who enjoyed the campus because the entire campus was theirs for the taking. The mess food was great but students still used to eat at the food court and that made the university to keep it open till 10 pm. Events were a high-pressure thing here because performing in events helped us get good scores so every student tried to participate in at least one of the events.
