Institute of Management Studies MBA Review By Ashish Chauhan

IMS DAVV is one of the best MBA colleges not just in Indore but in Madhya Pradesh as a whole. There’s no point talking about IIM Indore but in comparison to PIMR, Medicaps University, or Sanghvi Institute, IMS DAVV is much better. Almost all the students were placed with a package of 4-5 lakhs. Even though the institute is a self-financed one, the fees is lower than any private MBA colleges. For a fees of 1.2 lakhs, if we are getting placements then there’s no better way of calculating ROI than this. Various career opportunities opened up once I completed my MBA from here. I did MBA in Human Resource and that degree possess authority as we are the decision makers in an organization. Indore is a hub for HR students as many great opportunities are striking the metropolitan areas of Indore ever since it has been declared as the cleanest city of India. Not just the domain subjects but we studied everything in the first year from Finance, Marketing, to Disaster Management, etc. Besides that, IMS also emphasizes a lot on developing student’s personality and communication skills.

Well academics here taught us that rather than just being a mere job seeker, we could actually create business opportunities. My dad had a successful business in Bhopal and in the midway, I decided to join that because QSR’s can be one of the most profitable businesses today. QSR’s case studies were a part of our studies and people like Zhao who used to see burger at McDonald’s is world 6th richest man today. So, academics here was about making students realize the value of their degrees because if all MBA students will thrive for jobs, then who will create those jobs. I loved how academics here fared as I came to learn and took back a lot of learning from here.

To get the academics in order, faculties are the key and why not when most of the faculties were IIM passed out. Ask them about any businesses and they will have an idea of how that business works and what’s the scalability and what are the brands associated with it. So, there were a house of knowledge because one of our faculties have written research papers on over 200 case studies. Faculties stature here was sky high and why shouldn’t be when all of them have achieved so much in their life. Some of them even had jobs worth millions but because they found their mojo in teaching, they became teachers.

IMS DAVV has a placement record to awe for as the placements were almost 100%. Few students who didn’t take placements didn’t take it on their will and I am one of those. Many famous companies like Sun Pharma, HCL, ICICI Bank, SBI Life Insurance and others have been partnering with college for years and have got the manpower that they desire for. Average placements were around 4-5 lakhs and I know it was 2019 and figures were less but most of the jobs were offered in Indore and one can manage with that kind of salary in Indore. For bigger markets and avenues like Delhi or Bangalore students were offered somewhere in the range of 7-8 lakhs as that was also the highest package offered during our batch.

IMS don’t have a campus in its premises but students were provided hostel facilities at the Nalanda campus of the university. I though stayed at a private residency as I assembled a group of four students and rented a 2 BHK apartment close to the college. The hostel was also good but since there were common washrooms, I gave up on hostels otherwise they are quite cheap.

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Takshila Campus was where the IMS DAVV was located. The college is in highway but many residential areas have built up close to the campus and therefore one could easily find all means of transport outside the campus. The infrastructure of the campus was so huge that describing all of them is not possible in this review because it will require another review. As I have written in previous review, food is something that I relish the most, so tried out the various canteens of the college and mind you from Morning breakfast to evening snacks, I had my food there. I didn’t searched for any single options because there were plenty of eating options inside the campus and most of them were great. Just like that, the campus had sporting facilities that will fascinate any sports enthusiast because from basketball and badminton courts to huge cricket grounds everything was there at the campus. Ever since Chinki Yadav has made the rounds or the city proud with here shooting abilities, a shooting range too has been installed at the campus.

IMS is everything but not as flashy as the private universities and therefore one has to be well dressed always at the campus. No worn-out jeans for boys or skirts for girls. One can see the students of entire Indian states because IMS has its name spread wide and far.
