My Engineering Journey at RGCER Nagpur

The overall experience was very awesome as I was a student who got to attend college in both offline and online mode. I went through a lot of ups and downs when it came to college. I got an opportunity to be engaged in offline, and online (it was 2 years each). RGCER Nagpur is a very good college in terms of infrastructure, placements, campus, hostel, extracurricular activities, sports events, fests, and most importantly academics. Overall experience in college was amazing.

I chose Bachelor of Engineering and the branch was Computer Science and Engineering (4-year course). The entry requirements was that the student must have given JEE & MHTCET. There was a cutoff in an entrance exam system. Cut off was based upon categories. For general & open category students, the cutoff was 50 in JEE and 120 & above in all the 2 exams. For OBC students, it was 45 in JEE and 90 & above in MHTCET. For SC it was 20 in JEE and 60 & above in CET. for ST it was around the same as SC. one must be qualified in entrance and should have good marks in 10th, 12th and JEE & CET including entrance exam marks. Exam was conducted frequently. The academics taught to us in BE is helping me a lot in all the long run like in office, competitive exams, being a cloud engineer, and a coder.

The fee structure of my chosen course BE in CSE was Rs. 90,000 per year because I was an open or general caste student. I was a day scholar, so the tuition fee for me was Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 10,000 for all the other charges (Library, Laboratory, etc.)

The faculty was very good as everybody was specialized in the subjects that they were teaching. The teachers were all well educated and some of them were doctorate degree holders. The teaching methods were out of box approach. They used blackboards, PPTs, word documents, whiteboards. they explored and made us explore other teaching methods apart from traditional methods. The teacher student ratio was for each 120 students 3/3 teachers use to teach to 3 sections. They made sure that no internal /external academic exams should clash. The students must not feel burdened while appearing for any exam. The bonding that I had with the teachers is very pure and good that till now I am connected to most of them.

The placement cell at RGCER Nagpur was very good and supportive. The training and placement cell helped us a lot develop our technical as well as non-technical skills which were very beneficial for the longer run. The placement related activities, which were conducted, were that weekly we had assessment tests to develop and up skill ourselves. The renowned companies that visited our college were TCS, Wipro, Global Logic, BirlaSoft, Jade Global, Tech Mahindra, Hex aware, Capgemini, etc. I got placement from college itself. The placement scene was very good and almost all the students got placed in good companies. The maximum package that anyone received was 5.5/6 LPA in my time as all the companies were in range of 3-5 LPA only.

I was a day scholar so I do not have much idea but I have heard from my friends. The hostels were inside campus. The mess food was good and hygienic. The hostel fee was Rs. 65,000 per year. The rules were strict in hostel. The girls were not allowed at boy’s hostel and vice versa.
The last out time must be before 10 PM and after 10, nothing was entertained.

The college campus was very well built and infrastructure was very brilliant, it was also called NYSS. It was in the outskirts of Nagpur, which made it good and travel safe. Libraries were in good condition and had all types of books, which were required for all the departments and students to learn and educate themselves. The canteen was great it had great food and was a hangout spot for many students and peoples including faculty itself. Security was also great and took nice care of the female students. The favorite thing, which I liked in the college, was the mountain like structure that out campus had we all used to sit there and hangout it was a famous hangout spot for many.

My overall experience was awesome as I said earlier I was a hybrid student so I just got to enjoy 2 years of college life at campus, but those 2 years were also very amazing. There were many students in our college. There were many clubs in my college like E-cell club, cultural club, sports club, rotary club, film designing club, graphic designing club. I was a part of few of the clubs like E-cell club and leaders club. There was an annual event, which was performed, named as MALHAR. I myself have hosted events. It was a golden opportunity. I was also in the speakers club where I polished my speaking skills, which helped me a lot in the longer run. ‘Malhar’ had a combination was various events, altogether it was a great event. My overall experience RGCER Nagpur was amazing. I got to get the perks of online lectures and online assessments, and everything about those 4 years was great and memorable.
