SIST Chennai Fee Structure and Admission Process

My time at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai has been nothing short of transformative. From first year's excitement & nervousness to final year's bittersweet conclusion, the journey was such a rollercoaster and was filled with growing and learning. The campus has modern facilities and a vibrant atmosphere, providing an excellent environment for academic and extracurricular activities. I cherished the guidance from faculty and company of my peers. Participating in cultural fests, technical hackathons, and club activities enhanced my skills and built lifelong memories. I have particularly chosen this institute because of excellent facilities they provide for AI. Since AI is taking up the world, I felt that studying at the right place and right course will shape my career and future in a good way.

I have chosen the course BE in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. My decision to enroll in this course was because of hype AI is getting in recent days. I was also curious to know what happened behind these intelligent systems. This way, I could also stay in the current trend. The entry requirement in the institute is to write the entrance exam [SAEEE]. Once you write the exam, the courses will be allotted based on the cutoff. You can also get direct admission by visiting the campus. That says how simple the admissions process is. Then coming to the exams, we have 8 semesters, and in each semester, we would have a couple of internal tests. So the academic structure is prepared well enough to cover the trending topics. However, the thing is, practical experience is needed in order to survive in the field I have chosen. Therefore, no matter how good the institute is personal efforts matter a lot.

The fee for the course I have taken is Rs. 3,05,000 for the first year, followed by Rs. 2,75,000 for the remaining years. The institute doesn't charge for food and the transportation. Fee also differs for people based on the 12th standard scores. Once you have joined, you will also receive a chancellor's scholarship if you are one of the top 3 people in the branch.

To be very honest, not all faculties will be to one's liking. You are lucky if you get good people, and some people are not that friendly with the students. All faculties are experienced. In my branch, the teacher to student ratio is 1:35. This helps faculties to focus on individuals a lot more than crowded classes. You can ask staffs for any help you need.

About the placements, it maintains 90% of placement ratio every year. It provides many opportunities. If you are skilled, you will land in the right place. Skilling yourselves up is very important. Students make use of the placement trainings provided on campus.

I didn't stay at the hostel. The mess food is good, and you get to eat non-vegetarian every day.

Our campus is a vibrant and thoughtfully designed space, which is perfect for each block. The most special part is our block "Sathyabama Centre for Advanced Studies." It is the new block that has most advanced facilities. It is especially dedicated to the advancements of recent era like AI, data science, IOT, Blockchain, robotics, and cyber security. Similarly, there are dedicated blocks for each field. They also have a hospital on campus, a very huge library, and canteens with good food. Coming up, the management is building an auditorium of 10,000 people capacity.

Campus life at SIST is an enriching blend of academics, extracurricular activities, and social engagement that creates a truly holistic experience. Overall atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with a diverse and energetic crowd that makes it easy to connect and form long-lasting friendships. It has various club facilities. The most exciting thing about our campus is an annual cultural fest, where we enjoy it to the core and we get to witness the top celebrities every year, which is the most exciting thing. In addition, it hosts various fun events on campus and I would really recommend this institute to everyone.
