Institute of Marketing and Management PGDM Review By Rohan Singh

IMM is one of the leading B-Schools in Delhi located in Greater Kailash which is one of the best areas in Delhi. What IMM Delhi does best is set the tempo early on while what many other colleges do is go slow at the beginning and then just go bang bang. This is where the real difference lies between IMM and its peers. The colleges are often accused of being an education-less wonder but I pity those who said so. The fees of the college are cheaper than many and also the placements are as good as them. Some of the colleges charge the fees in one year that IMM charges in two years and yet they couldn’t make their students placed. So, what’s the point in getting to such colleges as anyways placements cards are never a guarantee. I was unlocked immediately here because I saw other students start unleashing with the tempo that college has set and after having such a great time during my graduation days, I knew my fun time was over as action time has begun.

My gut feeling with academics at IMM was that they have designed the best curriculum because we were up with the industry demands and studying about their supply chains and demand is what we studied. During interaction with corporate houses which happened often at IMM as seminars were regular things at IMM. I saw the very second week the faculties asked us to join the college on Sunday for an extra lecture and that sent me a message that the college doesn’t care about being scared of calling students on the only day they had off. So, I knew I will be overcooked to the top because getting through the PGDM course is by no means a joke. So, no one can criticize their academic part as they were just on top of academics.

In the early stages, the faculty showed us how strict they are. Not just with attendance but also with all the things that they lined up in our schedule. The management has only added on to that but trust me the load was so high that students who were able to unleash amid such pressure need special mention. The foundation was set with the quickest turnaround in the first trimester. I certainly didn’t see that coming because six subjects along with so many practicals were done in just 10 weeks' time. The faculties used to have some pills or something because I tried my best to be friends with them and figure out where they get their dose of energy from.

Marketing students are always in demand as selling the products is an art and because we were taught by some of the best artists, the placements have to be great. 8 or if I am a little harsh, 7 out of 10 surely had the placements from campus. The musical chair of placements went on for four weeks as we just kept waiting for the best offers because many students had three to four offers and obviously anybody would love to play a waiting game there as it was our time. Of course, I will credit IMM for it because the institute made us skilled and that landed us jobs with some great packages.

IMM has its hostel in the same areas but isn’t on campus. The hostels were nice but Delhiites had no business in getting there because the number of outsiders that come here meant that hostels were always running at their full capacity. Some double-seater rooms were converted into three-seaters as well because everybody wanted to stay at the hostel. Maybe the rooms or the food, I don’t know what it was but students were quite happy with the hostels.

The entire campus is centrally air-conditioned right from the reception area to classrooms. Needless to say, the labs, board rooms, and library too were air-conditioned. The auditorium was equipped and could house 200-250 members at a time. There was a room where students' issues were heard as that room was hardly empty but if anyone had any queries, there were members who would address all our problems. The cafeteria had to be picked at the earliest because if we failed to get a seat then the breaks won’t be enough to get our orders done on time. Hence, coffees were the only options we were left with because they kept it ready as that poison was consumed the most in the cafeteria.

The hustle and bustle inside the campus are the same as what we say at Rajeev Chowk metro station. Students are running up and down as some have to meet the faculties while some have their presentations. Some had to leave the campus for an off-campus project and it was so delightful to watch. I had a tough time there but only the tough can survive the challenges that post education are seen in real life.
