AU Visakhapatnam Placement Opportunities and Alumni Success

Studying Information Technology at Andhra University has been a wonderful experience. It is one of the oldest and most repeated universities in India. It has a very strong academy base. There are many facilities and chances to grow personally and professionally. The faculty is supportive and knowledgeable. Campus life is lively. Factors that made me choose this institution are reputation and its academic excellence. The fee is also reasonable when compared to private universities. The location as it is situated in Visakhapatnam. The university has very strong and great alumni with the great success in their careers. So, we can expect good placement opportunities and workshops. There are many courses. You can find very diverse culture here because students come here from different states and countries. The quality of education here is top notch. Despite the name of a government university, it has advanced facilities in labs, smart classrooms, and also huge library. The campus is very large and you can find greenery. I can conclude that this university is a perfect mix of academic extracurricular activities, legacy, and opportunities for anyone looking for a full filling engineering education.

I choose Information Technology course because of my interesting programming and it has a vast career opportunities. This course focuses both on practical and theory applications. To get into this university, firstly you need to qualify in AP EAMCET. Then, you need to secure a very good rank. Some of the seats are reserved for candidates from Andhra Pradesh because of the domicile status. Through the counseling process, you can select your preferred branch and university according to the rank and once the seat is allotted, you can go for the university with the required documents for verification and pay the admission confirmation fee, once the documents are verified. Every course follows a semester pattern with two semesters for each academic year. And in each semester, we have to midterm exams. The same goes with the Labs. At the end of each semester, we have the semester exams for both theory and practicals. In the final semester, which is the 8th semester, a project is mandatory. Coming to the academics, it has a practical exposure and also internship opportunities and the curriculum is very much relevant to the industry. All these make us prepare for real life challenges.

Coming to the fee structure, fee has to be paid once in each academic year. The fee for the course I have chosen is Rs. 62,000, which is slightly more than the other courses because this course is a self-financed course. This is a tuition fee amount and no other fee is required to be paid. Scholarships from government are available to all the courses including this self-finance course.

Coming to the faculty, they are very knowledgeable as they are the senior most faculty members. Everybody here is a professor who comes to teach into a class. The entire professor complete their PhDs and have lots of experience. Generally, we have smart classrooms where they use PPTs and explain to us. The teachers interact with the students in a good way. For each subject, a teacher is assigned and they come to the class to teach that particular subject. The faculty can have a great bond with the class representatives when compared to the other students in the class.

Yeah, Andhra University has a placement cell. The head of the placement cell is a senior faculty. Placement assistance is provided through out the working hours. There are many companies visiting to our university. Some of the companies include Infosys, Accenture, TCS, Tata, Delta X, L&T, IBM, HCL, etc. The highest package that has ever been secured by the student here is 82 LPA. Currently during our placement, we got a highest package around 16 LPA. The average package is around 4 LPA. I have been placed from the university placement in Infosys, which is really a great experience. All the interviews happen in the placement cell only.

The university offers residential facilities, which is the hostel and their many hostels for girls as well as for boys. There are many blocks of hostels. Each block contains around 150 to 200 rooms and rooms are of sharing of 2, 3, and 4. There is a separate hostel for boys and separate hostel for girls. Rooms are sufficient enough and contain two lights and two fans for a room shared by 4 people. The mess food is also okay. They provide breakfast lunch and dinner in the mess. For the hostel fee, you need to pay Rs. 6,250 (for IT) and Rs. 4,250 (for other courses) (this was during our joining time 2021 and fee may be increased as of now). Monthly you need to pay mess bill, which will be around Rs. 2,700. You are not allowed to use any kind of electronic appliances like induction stove, iron box, etc. You are allowed to go out and return by 7:00 PM, if you want to go to your house you need to submit a leave letter. Hostel life is very good with friends. But you need to adjust a bit.

The campus infrastructure is very wonderful. As this is a oldest campus, which was built by the British government, it has a very large buildings of brick. Some of the buildings are renovated now and new buildings are also added. The campus size is very large. Engineering campus is located in Maddilapalem Visakhapatnam. The classrooms are also spacious enough with all the smart facilities. The university also have a library especially for the engineering campus it contains all the books that are required for the academics or competitive examinations. Each department has its own seminar halls, labs, etc. Engineering campus also has its own auditoriums. Also, the Andhra University has a very large auditorium in the beach road. The university has a dispensary. There are many places in the university just to chill like principal gallery, civil gallery. Smart classrooms are always a plus point, which compliments course teaching. It has various grounds and basketball courts allowing students to participate in those sports.

The overall campus life is very good. One can expect a very decent and enjoyable campus life This university is a perfect mix of traditional architecture with new age facilities with is a better environment. Students have access to outdoor spaces for relaxation. The student body at Andhra University is diverse because students come from different parts of Andhra Pradesh across India and also out of India. You can see many foreigners in this university. You can get a good cultural exchange and you can build an National network too. The university has many clubs like cultural club, pioneers club, girls club, sports club, English club, and technical clubs. The University hosts annual fests like Aurora and events take place frequently that include flashmob. The social life and networking opportunities for students are very good. Overall, this university is a balanced mix of academic extracurricular activities and social engagement. The campus life is dynamic with many activities, which allow students to explore their interests beyond the academics.
