My Experience of ST. Xaviers

Overall Rating
St. Xavier's college is a prestigious catholic college in Mumbai, which has been there for over 150 years. Taking this into consideration, I decided to take admission there through the Catholic Quota after my 12th standard. To my surprise, I was accepted into this prestigious college, under B.Sc. IT. The faculty members are very sweet and intelligent on any subject and the overall crowd at the college is great. Many movies are shot in the college, because the campus is pure bliss. I decided this college because it is one of the most reputed catholic colleges.
 

Academics Rating
I took the BSC.IT course. The requirements were 90% for general category, but I got in with 80% under catholic quota. The admission process was swift via the St. Xavier's College portal. We had 5 semesters, over 3 years, and a total of 4 exams and 2 projects every semester. The academics taught a lot of software development, on how to build apps, etc. which I use in my daily life.
The fees were approximately Rs. 50,000 every year (Rs 1,50,000 for 3 years). The college gave scholarships to poor catholic students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty was amazing. They taught with beautiful presentations which helped students understand very well. Most of the faculty members were catholic. The faculty always had a listening ear, to listen to ideas and thoughts by the students of the college, creating a good bond between them. Some of the faculty, excelled beyond the classrooms in singing, playing instruments and even dancing. They helped the students on the verge of failing, get their grades up.
 

Placement Rating
The college provided internships, which was compulsory to pass the 3rd semester. Internships had to be done at NGO's which consisted of 100 marks. The placement cell charged Rs. 1,000 for interested candidates to go through the placement cell and at the end of the college year. Many jobs were made available, ranging with pray from Rs. 15,000 all the way to Rs. 50,00,000 per month.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The canteen was huge, serving many varieties of food, in both Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian. There are over 50 classrooms in the entire college, each of them are air conditioned and have AV aids. There are 5 auditoriums. I loved the canteen the most, because there were cute cats over there and I had a blast being with them while eating my food on a daily basis. The college had 2 computer labs.
 

Campus Rating
The campus was absolute bliss. Many movies are filmed on the campus. The students are also great, and the college is filled with a variety of crowd, of different religions, some with disabilities, etc. The college aims to treat everyone equally, no matter religion, caste or creed and is secular. Malhaar is the major fest held in St. Xavier's, but there are other fests such are Volantis and Techstatic, which is held especially by the IT & Stats department.

    Honestly, going to Mumbai for my bachelor's was never the plan, nor was the course on my mind. I always wanted to go to the Delhi University. But its results come out late and I got in the first merit list of Xavier's. My college started in the first week of July. I knew that in a month, as I get my CUET result, I'll head to Delhi.
