NLU Hyderabad: Campus Life Full of Opportunities and Fun

NALSAR Hyderabad has excellent infrastructure and it offers a well-rounded experience to its students. It has a sprawling campus that is spread in nearly 50 acres. This houses a state-of-the-art academic block with air-conditioned classrooms and several research centers. The NALSAR library has a plethora of resources, both online and offline, that aid in essential learning. The case-based teaching methodology ensures practical learning, with courses delivered by experienced faculty. Unlike a few other NLUs, NALSAR ensures a balance of academics with adequate opportunities to pursue their hobbies and other pursuits. The environment of the University is the holistic development of the student. Perfect for learning and life without compromising on academic standards. This approach towards learning and University life experiences made me choose law from NALSAR.

I have chosen B.A.LLB (Hons.) since I was interested in pursuing a law degree since very early age. It offered me a unique career pathway, away from the traditional STEM jobs. NALSAR is the gateway to that career for me. For admission into NALSAR, one must clear the CLAT exam, which has requirements of its own, such as a minimum of 40% in the 12th grade, and so on. Based on the rank attained in CLAT, one becomes eligible for admission to several NLUs (National Law Universities) in India. NALSAR Hyderabad, being one of the higher-ranked Universities, would require a higher CLAT score to obtain admission. The exam calendar is NALSAR is relaxed, consisting of mid-semester and end-semester exams. Mid-semester exams happen after 1.5 months while the end semesters exams are conducted after about 4 months in. the nature and score of the course allows the students to be exposed to a variety of legal discourse and opinion on crucial subjects.

The fee of the B.A.LLB program ranges around three lakh per annum. The subjects change each year, with the admission and other fees too. Specific categories of students may get scholarships and other forms of aid. The coveted Aditya Birla scholarship is also offered based on merit.

Faculty members come from different backgrounds, providing varied perspectives on the subjects at hand. Teaching methods are largely lecture-based, while some use PPTs and other illustrative models to complement their delivery. While the exact number is unknown. The teacher-student ratio is good the students can reach the faculty members even after the class in case of any doubt or query. The professors remain professionally approachable. They show a keen interest in teaching the subject, and learn from the students equally. The classrooms are filled with discussions, with the professors expecting the students to be equally prepared so that they may implement their methods and can have an interactive session with the students.

Several top law firms regularly conduct workshops and discussions on campus, facilitating the students and the University, where industry experts interact. All leading law firms recruit from NALSAR and corporations. They look for in-house counsel too. The University has a perfect placement record for the past few years, and average salaries lie around 15 lakh per annum.

NALSAR is a residential campus. There are separate hostel facilities provided to gild and boys separately. Various recreational facilities are provided within the hostel premises so that the students can enjoy themselves and have good time with their hostel friends. There are also common rooms with tennis tables or snooker tables. Mess food is served thrice a day, for the main meals and snacks are also served twice a day. The hostel fee is included in the annual fees. The entry to hostels is open 24/7 but going out of the campus you need permission from the warden. The campus is a 24-hour campus. Staying in the hostel is a wonderful experience, and according to me everyone should at least once experience it.

The academic block is well ventilated. It contains two floors, housing classrooms, research centers, and the exam (Administrative) office. The campus is spread in 50 acres of land. The classrooms have a seating capacity of around 80 students i.e. the strength of the class. The classrooms are equipped with audio-visual aids like digital board, speakers, etc. The library is stacked with digital and physical resources spanning a lot of areas, including research pursuits. The auditorium is large and has hosted various functions, ceremonies and events. Other facilities include turf for sports and tennis and synthetic basketball courts, with the hostel complexes having gyms and basketball courts. There are several cafes on campus, too. To choose from where to eat meals from outside the food timings. Whenever the mess food gets boring or in case someone misses the meal they can go and have food at any of the outlet in the University.

Overall, campus life is busy. It can sometimes get stressful due to various activities happening in the University. However, all the recreational facilities, the vibe, and a lot of friends make it a very enjoyable place to pursue learning. The crowd is polite, helpful, and jovial. There are several committees that deal with and organize events. Extra and co-curricular activities such as debating, mooting, art and so on are part of life at NALSAR. Carpe Diem is the flagship festival of the University, where every person is always doing something or the other. The culture is extremely stimulating, and the casual nature of life makes it a fun place.
