Exploring Placement Opportunities at NIT, Durgapur

Overall Rating
At first this is an NIT you will have a NIT tag with yourself. Its campus life is really better than other colleges. Very lesser people know that we have our brand new research building. The institute has NIT tag that's the main reason behind me choosing this institute. The campus life of NIT Durgapur is better.
 

Academics Rating
I have got Electrical Engineering through JOSSA counseling. Anyone who wants to take admission have to clear the JEE Mains and secure a good rank to get the good branches. In NIT Durgapur there are CA1, midterm and end term exams. The faculty members of the institute are good.
Overall there are 2 semesters. In a year and almost Rs. 1, 00,000 per year is needed beside that hostel fees or mess fees is Rs. 19,000 approx in every semester.
 

Faculty Rating
This is an NIT so every faculty member in the institute is really qualified. The faculty members here are experienced and have vast knowledge about their subject area. But the teaching methods used by the teachers are not that interesting.
 

Placement Rating
Placements are decent. There are Training and Placement Cell. Core and IT companies comes in the institute for every branch though for top 3 branches almost all companies are open. Highest package this year as of now is like 65 LPA. The average package is different for different courses. It's almost like 9-10 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, NIT Durgapur has almost 15 to 16 hostels for different years, M.Tech and for Ph.D as well. In some hostels renovations is needed. Hall 14 and Hall 11 are newly built hostels for boys. These hostels are in good conditions. In first and 2nd year there are timing for entry and in 3rd & final year there is no restriction on entry timing.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are mainly 2 academic blocks: MAB (Main Academic Building) and NAB (New Academic Building). MAB is old building having a large area in it MAB have 4 type of rooms TR, LG, LH, and practical rooms. It also has departments like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Metallurgy. In MAB there are practical rooms as well. In MAB everything is kind of old, though they are well maintained and construction work is in process there all the time. On the other hand NAB is really new and modern with 3 lifts in them, modern classrooms and modern teaching facilities.
 

Campus Rating
Overall if I want to say it has a healthy college or campus life if compared to other colleges. I am the member of official Music Club of NIT Durgapur. There are so many clubs in the institute. Overall clubs and society culture is good at NIT Durgapur.

    My overall Institute experience till now has been good. I chose this Institute as it was the best option which I was getting at the time of JOSAA counseling and also the ECE department of this Institute was very good. I don't think that there is any big difference between this Institute and others. However they are very strict when it comes to ragging.     NIT DGP is a pretty old Institution with about 60 years of history. Overall, this has potential but roughly it offers a similar experience to those of older NITs, and things are laggard typical of government Institutions in general, particularly in West Bengal.     Overall NIT Durgapur has a green campus situated in Durgapur 8 km away from Durgapur station. The campus life is also too good. Overall placement of all branches is good. For circuital branches too many companies are coming for SDE role. Also companies like Reliance, JSW and more hire for core branch students. The faculty members here are very good and friendly....     NIT Durgapur is located in the city of steel plants of West Bengal that is Durgapur. It has a well-maintained green campus with pine trees and different diversity of flora and fauna. The campus is spread around 187 acre and it is divided into different zones like the Hostel, Academics, and professor’s residential area.     Firstly, NIT Durgapur is one of the prestigious colleges of India. Courses like CSE, Electrical, Electronic and Communication, Metallurgy and many more branches are there. For taking admission in this college, one should have to clear the JEE main examination with good rank. And also, in 12th 75+ percentages required for taking admission in this college.
