VIT Pune is a Top Choice for AI and Data Science Enthusiasts

VIT Pune is renowned college because of its extracurricular culture. Since I’ve been in the colleges many flagship events, speaker sessions have happened and are still going on. To be in this college was not though but I didn't want to be in this college but after experiencing the culture I won’t regret of being a part of this college. I would definitely refer VIT for other students because more practical aspects are taught rather than completing 200 pages of assignments. Presentation skills are taught to us also faculty and seniors are very helpful in every aspect. Club culture in VIT is one of the points to note because it’s very mixed and healthy for students to experience and learn new things.

The course I choose was artificial intelligence and data science which is in great demand in market because artificial intelligence is taking over and we cannot deny its use, that’s why I have enrolled in this course. Entry requirements to be in VIT are that one should score above 90 percentile in JEE mains and a good score between 95 to 99 percentiles in MHT CET exam. Once you have your results for above exams you can get admission through state counseling. As I am in first year there are no specific exams scheduled for my course. And for real life challenges I think no other college can give experience as VIT because of club culture here will give you real life situations to show your skills.

The fees of my college is around 2 lakhs per year and around 8 lakhs for 4 years but there are plenty of scholarship by which you can get up to 70 percent concession on fees as I am form economically weaker section my fees is around 30 thousand per year. Also students will get scholarships for OBC, EWS, VJNT and other castes.

Faculty in VIT is very helpful and understanding and they are all good teachers. But all are quite professional in teaching their chosen subjects. But as students we don’t know much about their academic background but as far as I can tell, all are well experienced. All teachers are very helpful and have a good skill in problem solving. Faculty members are easy to bond with. From this year student intake in VIT has increased exponentially and student teacher ratio is quite disturbed.

There is no placement cell in VIT but there is a placement and training committee, which helps the students to prepare for their job interviews in every aspect. There are speaker sessions arranged for students regarding placement training and opportunities. Barclays, Mercedes, TATA motors are some good companies that visit for placement.

My college has a hostel but it is not in the campus as the college campus is very small. The hostel is around 2km away from college and I have heard that facilities in hostel are not as good as they are supposed to be. So I would not recommend hostel to someone new coming to college.

VIT campus is very small compared to other colleges in Pune, though infrastructure is well maintained. Also area around college is not so good, but classrooms are well maintained with projectors and green boards along with digital facilities. There is active library with good collection of books. Also conference halls and auditorium are well maintained. There are 3 canteens in VIT and all are quite good. The favorite things about my college are my friend’s of-course.

Over all campus is small but it is good and well maintained and there is a friendly atmosphere in the college. The college crowd for first year students is decent, but for all the other years, students are good, supporting and friendly. There is great club culture in VIT with more than 50 clubs, which are highest in number than in any college in Pune. All the clubs arrange many extracurricular activities throughout the semester. 2 To 3 big fests happen in the college in a year with collaboration with other colleges. Overall college experience is good.
