They had an exceptionally designed liberal arts course with an array of subjects and majors to choose from. The course pattern was imagined, designed and executed beautifully giving us a chance to develop skills that are transferable and translate to a number of professions and imperative for working professionals. Hailing from a CBSE school, the curriculum at high school was more theoretical in nature and lack practical application. It promoted and taught skills such as research, advocacy, academic writing, diplomacy and financial management. Following an international system, the JSLH pedagogy bridges that gap, providing more hands on practical experience. For example in our first year for history, they actually curated a re-imagined archaeological site from the Roman Empire and we were asked to form teams and use the theory taught and find excavated objects in the site. For clinical psychology we were taught to observe neural activity through brain waves and administer the lie detector test. The students for forensic psychology actually visited a prison to observe criminal psychologists at work. We were free to choose electives from the 12th. Other schools of the University (law, international relations, finance, journalism, architecture etc.) gave us great exposure to a multidisciplinary environment and fostered networking with students from other schools of the University. It is also one of the very few Universities that permit a double major in India. They also have tie-ups with renowned Universities around the world such as Cornell, King's College London and University of California, Berkeley. They offer semester exchange programs along with summer and winter school programs. Some of them also offer a combined dual degree program. Exams are conducted bi-annually and tests are mostly research based or take home assignments. There are readings but they are not very heavy, it is manageable. The pedagogy in class coupled with the interesting internships during the semester breaks provide us with ready skills, experience and the confidence to enter the real world.

Fee is at the higher end of the spectrum and might pinch your pockets. They, however, do provide multiple scholarships and data open to all. They have an excellent library, seminar rooms, multiple societies and almost every sport is available including horse riding and golf. It is kind of built in city with everything from medical to a grocery store to a juice shop to a general store and even a movie theatre available on campus. The University also has a shuttle service to and fro from Delhi almost every hour. My favorite thing about campus is its lush green sprawling garden.

I had an amazing time meeting people, networking and building long lasting friendships. The place is big on sports and cultural festivals including music fest, food fest and gaming. There are multiple societies such as the philosophical society, dance society, theatre society, debate society, and an LGBTQ support group. College crowd is a mix of people from all across the country and it takes a while but you usually find your crowd.
