BA LLB at Faculty of Law, University of Calcutta

My experience in this college until now is pretty good. I hope I would be able to enjoy by learning new things in the upcoming years as well. I'm sharing my honest review and experience through this website. I would definitely refer my college to anyone. Department of Law, University of Calcutta is the main department of this prestigious university. It's one of the most renowned Law colleges in the state. It has its own legacy. It has the best faculties of Law subjects and best facilities also. It's located in the main city so it has so many advantages. The department has so many esteemed alumni and we are very proud of that. It's the great place to enhance the knowledge of Law and to develop a powerful personality as future lawyer. there are so many things that need to be worked upon.

Our department has only BA LLB course. The process of admission is based on the specific entrance examination. An eligibility criterion is mentioned in the specific website. We have English, Political Science, Sociology, and Economics as our BA subjects. From 3rd year, based on marks one could be selected for Honors course (BA LLB Hons.). In this course 2 semester exams are conducted in each year. We have so many committees, clubs in our department regarding extra curriculum activities. The committees are also active and by joining them the students can build their legal skills and potentials and so many other things as well.

Faculties of our department are well experienced and have enormous knowledge of their particular field. Their teaching methods and styles are so different and easy to understand. They are helpful and friendly in nature. Our department has permanent faculties in all law subjects. They enlighten our knowledge and teach us how to approach the exams and to make best out of our law school journey of 5 years. They take regular classes as well.

Faculty of Law, University of Calcutta has no placement cell in such a way until now. But the seniors of the department are trying to build a strong placement cell in the near future. Also we have so many alumni who are placed in top law firms currently. Our department has good name among the corporate sectors. So it's helpful as well. Our professors and seniors are so supportive thus we can get connections as well.

The department has different hostels for boys and girls. the facility of the accommodation is very decent as per the fee. The fee of the hostels is so reasonable. In the initial years, students have to share the rooms with other students. Rooms are clean and well maintained. There is no ragging culture, so it's very safe.

Our campus is very clean and calm. It's also nearby the main road so it's well connected as well. We have one building for our Law department. canteen is also provided in the building of the campus. There are so many food stalls outside of our campus. We have badminton court along with other indoor sports facilities. We have oldest library in India. Moot court room is well maintained for the sessions and competitions. It also has huge amount of greenery, which is kind of blessing also. We've elevator in our building for the ease of everyone and also the fresh drinking water storage is available. Our washrooms are clean and well maintained especially for girls. Technology based classrooms are also there for the betterment of the students.

The peer culture is so good and friendly in nature. One of the best minds studies there so the crowd is also very inspiring. As a student, we learn so many things from our sessions. They give us their precious time only to teach us and to make us aware of those things, which are required for future as well. Freshers and farewells are the best events in college life. Fests are there to have fun and to apply our skills except law. We participate in inter college fests, events as well to make new friends and make best out of our 5 years. Campus life is good for our development and we are thankful to have that kind of environment. Also it's good for women safety.
