IIIT, Surat - Good College for Career

Overall Rating
I like IIIT Surat because it is an Institute of National Importance, which is very good for my career in future. The placement scene is improving year by year because good companies are visiting the campus. Surat weather is also another plus point which made me choose this particular institute. The pollution is less compared to other big cities which is good. The faculty are good and supportive. The campus life is good.
 

Academics Rating
Admission in the Institute will happen through a counselling process called JOSSA after the JEE Mains exam. Right now there are two branches : CSE (Computer Science Engineering) and ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) with a total of 180 seats. In the future seats will increase to 360. Ph.D seats are also available, and many students are doing Ph.D here. The facilities in the campus are good. The institute will remain off on Saturday and Sunday. For sports there are separate grounds for cricket, basketball, kabaddi. There are also indoor games like carrom and table tennis.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty at IIIT, Surat is very supportive and experienced. Most of the faculties have done Ph.D from IITs or other top institutes. The teaching style is good, they explain every topic in an easy way, so everyone understands it. If students have any doubts, faculty are always ready to help them any time. Also, all faculty share their phone number so any student can talk to them personally as well. They guide students for projects, internships and the placement.
 

Placement Rating
The Training and Placement Cell of the institute is very active. Many good companies visit the institute every year and hire students. Placements are improving year by year and placements updates are shared on LinkedIn and websites so anyone can check easily.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel facilities are very good. Breakfast and Dinner are provided in the Hostel and Lunch is in the mess of the institute. In Hostel, there is also Wi-Fi for good internet connection and a ground for sports.
 

Infrastructure Rating
IIIT Surat has good and well-furnished infrastructure. The classrooms are big and comfortable. There is a big library where students can study. The campus also has a playground and a garden where students can sit in their free time. Although, the campus is still developing. The administration is also good and supportive. There are also indoor games like carrom and table tennis. Everything is well organized and overall, the infrastructure is good.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at IIIT Surat is very good and full of fun activities. Many events and fest happen every year like freshers' party, DJ night and other cultural and non-cultural events. Students enjoy these fests a lot and participate in these events. Sports facilities are also good. Faculty and students enjoy the fest together. There are many clubs in which seniors will guide their juniors and students can join clubs for their personality development.

    The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat is still in its developing phase. The campus and its overall infrastructure is average. The campus is very small. Apart from this there is an issue with number of faculties also as most of them are on temporary basis. But on the other hand the coding culture is quite decent and there are a lot of clubs to explore. The placement is average.     Overall Rating
    To be honest, IIIT Surat wasn't first priority of mine. After counseling it was the best college I could have got at my rank. My experience in college is great till now. I am accompanied with very talented students overall India. Seniors here are very helpful and approachable, which is one of the best things here. Also there are various active clubs here, which makes it easy for students who also want to follow their passions. Overall I am having great time here.... Read Full Review

    Overall the experience is average. The institute does not lack in facilities or equipment. However the institute has become stagnant over a period of about 2 years. The institute has not progressed beyond that. There is no lacking in facilities in the institute which is a plus point. But, the lack of institutional hostel facilities, placement and recent faculty inclusions somewhat degrade overall experience.     This college is newly built in Kamrej (15km from Surat station). The campus is not fully built now and hostel is not in campus, students are provided private hostels in schools campus which is 10km away from college (bus Services is available). Classrooms are good but not air conditioned. It gets heated in summer season. But the CSE labs and staff rooms have ACs. Some professors are friendly while few faculties are non cooperative.
