My experience at IIEST

Overall Rating
My overall experience till now as a first-year student of IIEST Shibpur has been good. I have joined this institute in the Mechanical Engineering branch for session 2024 to 2028. I chose this institute because it is the oldest Engineering institute in India built in 1856 at the time of British Raj. So, this institute has a large alumni network.
 

Academics Rating
The motive for joining this Mechanical branch is my passion towards the machines and their function. Overall, academics are good.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty in our institute is mostly Ph.D holders and experts in their respective subjects. The faculty to student ratio is very low in our institute and the relation between student and faculty is good and good in our institute. The major problem regarding faculty is that there are no set of teachers who teach for first year students specifically, that is the only drawback regarding faculty side.
 

Hostel Rating
There are hostels but the infrastructure of our hostel is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
For first year students there are three hostels respectively such as hostel 8, Hostel 9 and Hostel 10. Each hostel has their own mess area for dining. Since this is too old, many buildings need to be renovated and repaired. The facilities in the hostels are also not up to the mark.
 

Campus Rating
One thing which I like regarding my institute is the campus life because you can find greenery everywhere around you and ponds in the campus surroundings which you can enjoy and chill while walking on the roads in the campus. There are many hangout places nearby the institute such as Ganga Ghat where all people go to see the best sunset.

    IIEST is second oldest Engineering Institute in India. Alumni network is very strong and campus life is too good. Connectivity is also very good Howrah, Salimar and Sealdah stations are very near to the institute and airport is also less than 10 KM away.     IIEST shibpur (formerly known as Bengal Engineering College or BESU) comes under the tag of Institute of national importance. To get admission, you need to apply through JEE Mains AIR ranks. This institute provides all B.Tech, M.Tech and P.HD courses. It came at 46 positions in recent NIRF ranking.     IIEST is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. It was established in 1856. It is one of best engineering colleges in West Bengal with overall good placement statistics and nice campus life.
