My Authentic Views on Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics

Overall Rating
Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics has the great faculty and student can never feel that they are being ignored. Infrastructure is not that great but it is being developed day by day. The campus is compact but the knowledge you get is more important than the campus. Hence, the academics here are great. This college is very famous for its placements as many MNCs come to recruit students.
 

Academics Rating
This college provides multiple courses. Some of them are as follows: B.Com, BMS, BBI, BAF, BSE, etc. there are many more opportunities in Masters as we also have MBA course.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties are also great. Most of them are very well educated. The college takes its teachers and each individual’s teaching style very seriously. All the teachers also teach with passion, aiming that the students are understanding everything. Hence, it can be said that they don't just teach for the sake of teaching or completing the task but so the students can get knowledge. In other words, they always try to teach in an extraordinary way so the students can get real life experience. Mostly of them are very friendly.
 

Placement Rating
Placement is great. There are different companies that come to Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics to provide great job opportunities. There are huge job opportunities from companies like Trident, Tata, etc.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel of Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics is also great. It has great infrastructure. The only thing is that it is not that easy to get a hostel as 4000 to 5000 aspirants apply to get a hostel from college but only around 700 of them are selected. Other than this, hostel facilities are also great. We get to make new friends at the hostels.
 

Infrastructure Rating
As I mentioned earlier, infrastructure is not that great but it is under reconstruction. The college authorities are focusing on the development of the college. Hence, it is getting better day by day. They are installing air conditioner in all the classrooms. Now, almost every room has an air conditioner and some of them are going to get it very soon. The campus is also average. We have a small playground where we can play basketball.
 

Campus Rating
Different kind of events are organized by the college. There are fests like Rainbow Lane, which is an inter-college Dhun, Jalosh, Minute 24, etc. There are around 24 societies in the college. This is one of the best experience and I think a student can have is during the event.

    The college is very good. The atmosphere and crowd at Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics is great and brilliant.     Overall, the College and campus life is exciting. There is a library in the campus that is equipped with latest study materials. The faculty members of the college are well educated and many of them are Chartered Accountants. Our college is affiliated to the Dr. Homi Bhabha State University which is one of the top universities in Maharashtra.     I am a former student of Sydenham College Mumbai and will admit to the fact that in recent few years, the college has lost the shine that it had probably 2 decades back. One can gauge the popularity of the college on how active the college is on web. The FB page of the college don’t have any recent post even on web, you will hardly find any details about the college which was once the best college for commerce this side of the Suez.     Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics is a 100 years old institute is known for the values that it holds. The college was started by Britishers and is today one of the best commerce college under the University of Mumbai. Growing up in town I had my eyes set on Sydenham college from a very early age and joined it from the junior college itself.     It has been a fair time since I passed out and I hope that the landscape must have changed. If you are someone who wants a job after B. Com or BMS then go for entrance test of Symbiosis or NM as they can guarantee you a job but not Sydenham. However, one thing that I would like to share is that they can get you campus placements alright, but their fees is quite high too. At Sydenham, we paid peanuts and graduated.
