The Neotia University BBA Review By Vaibhav Jha

Kolkata has many Colleges like NSHM Knowledge Campus, IME, and Techno India University, among others. All these Colleges have a strict criterion even though they are private, but TNU gave admissions to students who even had a percentage less than 50%. I was among the ones who scored 80% consistently but still joined this University as I used to stay in Tollygunj and TNU was at least close to where I lived. The University is away from the main city as it is on the road that goes to Diamond Harbor and therefore one can see beautiful landscapes while traveling here. In a true sense the University lacked strength because when all the Colleges and Universities were focusing on skill development, the University still was contained in teaching us the curriculum. Many students had their rebirth because schools in Kolkata are tough and therefore, they have to give away the things that they like. However, at TNU, such students were given presents in attendance as they were busy doing drama, dancing, or playing sports. So, for those who want to explore the other side of their talents, Neotia University will give them enough opportunities.

One good thing that TNU did was that they allowed us to skip classes in the final year and most students started their entrance preparations. We knew that academically the University was doing well because we were given the case studies that were taught in B-Schools and still it wasn't enough for us to get placed. So, academics here were a patience game with no blinks. Attendance was compulsory for the first two years and a long leave without notice resulted in parents being called upon. So, some school rules were applied and that's the reason why not many outsiders dared to join this University.

Faculties were some of the brightest because they encouraged students to like anything. The classes on marketing management and business taxation taken by a couple of faculties will remain with me forever. The faculties here also encouraged us to do things beyond academic activities. It's luck or some good deeds that the University has done in the past that professors of such quality have agreed to teach here. Passion is the term that is infused in us, and they were the ones who talked to management about final-year students being allowed to skip classes on account of preparing for entrances.

Just like NOTA in elections, I wish we had a term for reviewing something that didn't exist. Neotia University Placement cell gave many excuses for it, but I feel there's no shame in admitting wrongdoing. How can a University as big as TNU can't invite industries to the campus? BBA is not an amateur course where students doing BBA (Hons) don't develop any skills. From workshops to live experiments, we did them all, but still, they asked us to forbid the placements because the University couldn't do anything about that. Well, if they couldn't, I wish I could know who could.

Hostels were great and so were the staff quarters. So, along with students, even the staff used to stay at the campus. The staff quarters were close to the boy's hostels area but students who stayed there said they used to play loud music, have fun, and chill on the campus as long as the guard didn't see them roaming. Students who have stayed at the hostels said they had the time of their lives. Honestly speaking, the outsiders don't have a choice even because there's nothing in the vicinity of the University, so staying at the hostel is the only option that they have.

If one is fond of greenery and some artistic buildings then they should just visit the TNU campus. I am sure they will have a lot of fun because for experiments there's even a dummy ship installed and a pond has been made. The libraries for each department are separate and also a common library for the University has been made. Some refurbishing work was going on in the main library, so it was not fully operational. The sports ground was good but needed some stands because over a 100-meter playground without a boundary made no sense. The canteen and the mess offered great food, and for that, the University should be appreciated because providing that food at that price was unimaginable.

My feedback on campus life is simple. In the process of making it a cool place for students, the University has made a bit of everything. The story might be different for another department but for BBA students, the students who were interested in other things still had fun; but those who wanted to grow academically had no special services or treatment on offer.
