My Experience About the Campus Life at SICSR

Overall Rating
I just completed my first semester, and to be honest so far my experience has been pretty decent. I had chosen SICSR as it ranked among the top Indian Universities for BCA. I’d recommend Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research over any other private institute for BCA as the faculty is pretty good and the university is well reputed in India. Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research is well recognized internationally as well and they rank 641 in the QS world rankings.
 

Academics Rating
I am an NRI so my admission was dependent on my predicted scores and my final board result. The general category students have to write the SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) and go through a round of interviews. I think the minimum cutoff to be eligible for BCA is 50% marks in boards and also having some computer related subjects such as Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Artificial Intelligence, etc.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is mostly local Indian teachers. They are pretty good but I feel that the visiting faculty teachers could do way better; they seem the least interested in their job. The in-campus faculty is great and is also very much approachable whenever required. The teachers usually teach using PPTs and making us do practical work in our laptops. They try to keep the teaching as interactive as possible.
 

Placement Rating
SICSR does have a placement cell but I’m not quite sure about the packages and all, as I’m still in first year. But SICSR claims that 100% of the students get placed. All I know is that in the highest package of the last batch was 19 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
There’s no boys hostel near SICSR, it’s only Girls Hostel. The boy’s hostel is in SB road which is like 2 km away from SICSR. The Boys hostel’s facilities are pretty decent. The entire hostel is non A/C. The mess food is also fine but yeah eventually you will get bored of it. The hostel has a common room which has a TV, table tennis and a kitchen. The hostel’s in-time is 10:30 pm from Monday to Friday and 11:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The SICSR campus is just one building which has 7 floors so, the campus isn’t the best but the best part is that it’s in the heart of the city, so we can go around pretty easily. SICSR has a library where the students can register to get study materials and reference books. The computer labs in the building are equipped with air conditioners whereas the other rooms are non A/C and are only equipped with fans.
 

Campus Rating
I’d say that the campus life is slightly above average. The institute offers the students to join various clubs. The student’s may also create their own clubs in the institute. SICSR hosts fest in their parking lot but we prefer to go to the Lavale Campus for the fest. It’s way bigger and better in the Lavale campus. SICSR has a total intake of 180 students for BCA. And there are many international students especially from Nepal and African countries.

    It's a good college for students who want to pursue a career in the IT field. I've finished my 1st semester now and till date it was fun and I've learnt a lot of new stuff that has helped me a lot.     My experience in this college has been somewhat bitter as the exposure and campus life is very restricted. The campus is very small and the people are not of my type. The blend of IT and management made me join this course as that is the way forward in today's day and age.... Read Full Review

    The college is good for BCA, but for BBA it’s not that great. If you’re planning to join this college thinking about infrastructure and a movie like college life, then this would be the worst place. Being a Symbiosis college, they need better infrastructure.     The college has an extremely old campus, a 7-story building, out of which 2 floors are for completely different institutes. The college provides 4 courses: BBA (IT), BCA, M.Sc and MBA (IT).
