All About IIT Jammu

Overall Rating
My overall experience of institute after completing 1st semester is quite good. I like the natural beauty and scenic view is good. Being new, we lack alumni network and many other facilities, but slowly our infrastructure is being built. The new sports complex will be opened in few months.
 

Academics Rating
I am enrolled in Electrical branch. Although in first semester, every branch's students have same course along with curriculum and schedule is hectic. For entry in this institute, one has to pass JEE Advanced exam. I got 3778 rank (OBI category). One should also be 12th passed with 75% +. Main motive for joining here is its name and Circuital branch.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty here is quite young. All are well qualified. All are PhD holders and many also have multiple PhDs. Being knowledgeable is different but most teacher’s way of explanation is average.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have an active placement cell that works quite well to get more and more companies for placement drive and internship opportunities. We also have collaboration with Taiwan Study Centre. Hence, 3rd year students get internships opportunities in Taiwan. Cell works for getting more companies but to crack interview, students need to learn skills.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have hostels within the institute. We have double occupancy for 1st and 2nd year students. Dedham and Brae hostel are for 1st and 2nd year boys, Fulmar hostel is for 3rd 4th year and M.Tech, PhD boys. There is a single hostel for girls.
 

Infrastructure Rating
IIT Jammu lacks infrastructure as it is quite new, but construction is going on. All that buildings that are built are new and that's why, it looks good. Academic block building is recently opened and all the basic facilities like good classrooms, lifts, and cleanliness are excellent.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is quite good. Many sports events are organized from time to time. Other activities, fests and events are also organized.

    In the tough race of JEE advanced; getting an IIT is extremely tough these days. I am satisfied with my college as it's an institute of national importance.
