My experience as a fresher in IIT

Overall Rating
Generally considered excellent with high placement rates and attractive average salary packages IIT, BHU has a large campus with well-equipped labs, updated facilities, and a dedicated sports infrastructure but some academic buildings might appear outdated with traditional classrooms and there is no AC in classrooms. About the faculty, IIT, BHU have highly qualified professors with good teaching standards.
 

Academics Rating
There are numerous departments in IIT, BHU like Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, CSE, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering and many more. Classrooms are large and technically equipped with projectors, screens and speakers. They are where you will enjoy and learn many things and each classroom has a sitting capacity of 150-200 students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are praised for their approachable nature and willful to clear student doubts. As a fresher, my 1st semester is over, and all the teachers have a good nature. When students have doubts in class then the professors clear their doubts and give their precious time and solve our queries. They have a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge delivery.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, the institute has a Placement Cell, and it really helps students to acquire jobs. In 2024, more than 11 students got placement of more than 1 crore per annum.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostels are good but some hostels are old, so they are not in good condition, but new ones are pretty good.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The institute was established in 1919 as a part of BHU and was designated as an IIT in 2012, some of my friends express dissatisfaction with specific aspects of the infrastructure while others appreciate the unique environment. One thing that should be there are the ACs in our classrooms. For going to lecture halls from hostels, the distance is more than 1km for going to classrooms.
 

Campus Rating
The BHU campus spreads over an area of 1,300 acres in which various technical institutes and facilities are co-existing as IIT BHU are a part of BHU campus and it provides you with the most versatile campus among all the IITs and it is the second largest in India with lots of greenery all around. One special thing about the IIT campus is that we have a replica of Kashi Vishwanath temple.

    IIT BHU is currently ranked 10 in NIRF ranking 2024. The college has very good environment for academics and personal development. So many clubs and societies are there to help a student in his / her extracurricular growth. The college has tech clubs like aero modeling, robotics, coding club, and more.     The overall experience at IIT BHU is like dream fulfilling, had a rigorous curriculum, research opportunities and highly educated faculties for the academics. I really like the sports facilities offered by the institute and joyful & memorable experiences at the festivals. But when it comes to hostel life is really get emotional because hostel is the true heart of the students where they live for 4/5 years as their home and friends as siblings.
