National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Avinash Bareth

This is my 2nd year in this institute, and I must say that my decision to join this institute was absolutely right. Since I am from Chhattisgarh, it was not difficult for me to adjust in this environment and travelling was also very convenient. My 1st year in the institute was amazing. I got to know and be friends with students from all over India, coming from different cultures and backgrounds. The various fests and events happening helped us to know more about each one of us. These events also gave us a break from studies and helped us enjoy our college life. For those who want to get into this institute, it will be a great experience for you academically as well as you will be able to know about different cultures and people.

The institute offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech, M.Sc, MCA), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs. Popular branches include Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering. It also has active research collaborations with industries and academic institutions. It offers several funded projects for students and faculty. To get admission in a B.Tech program, you must have cleared the JEE Examination and enroll in JOSAA counseling.

The faculty here is a blend of experienced professors and young researchers. Most of them are well-qualified, and great in their fields. The M.Tech and Ph.D students also assist the faculties in teaching. The lab assistants are also very educated and well aware about the equipment and the experiments in the lab. The faculties try to give us practical experience and knowledge of the subject through industrial visits and sites.

The institute has an excellent placement record, especially for the top branches like Computer Science, IT, and Electronics. Core branches like Mechanical and Civil see slightly lower placement rates but, they too are well placed. The placement cell and their coordinators take the whole responsibility of preparing the students for placements and interviews. The top companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Samsung, and Capgemini visit the campus.

There are separate hostels for girls and boys with decent facilities. However, to get accommodation in the hostel is a little difficult as it all depends upon your academic performance. There are separate hostels for 1st year students and seniors. The hostels are well-equipped with Wi-Fi. There is no ragging in the hostel.

The campus has separate buildings for B.Arch and for other students pursuing other courses. There are grounds for cricket, football, basketball, and indoor sports facilities like badminton and table tennis. A gym is also available. There is a canteen as well as shops, so that you don't have to go out of the campus. A new sports complex is also under construction. The central garden also gives you a place to chill with your friends.

The overall campus life is amazing with the kind of fests and events taking place. The crowd that gathers is passionate. Students come from all over India, creating a vibrant cultural mix. The active clubs are available for robotics, coding, drama, photography, and entrepreneurship that enrich student life. The major events taking place are Eclectica (cultural fest), Aavartan (Technical fest). Other events include Hackathons, quizzes, and debates.
