SIT, Darjeeling: The Hidden Gem

Overall Rating
I have joined Siliguri Institute of Technology, Darjeeling this year. As a first-year student, I would like to share my experience in this institute for the future freshers. How am I doing here, how are the facilities here, how is the institute in campus placements, how are the faculties here and all other extracurricular. This hidden gem is located amidst the tea garden of Sukna, Darjeeling, making the environment very peaceful and study friendly.
 

Academics Rating
I am pursuing Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science. The admission procedure of this institute includes JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and WBJEE score, through counseling. My total 4-year course fee is around Rs. 6.7 Lakh. My only motive for enrolling in this program is to learn something new about technology, every day. I want to contribute to the technology of today's world.
 

Faculty Rating
Our institute has a huge number of faculties, each one of them is professional and highly honored. We have a couple of teachers who have completed their Ph.D. from IIT, Kharagpur. For 1st year, there are 4 Math teachers, 3 teachers for Physics, 4 for Chemistry, and 3 teachers for Electrical Engineering. Each teacher has his or her own professional way of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, of course, our institute has a placement cell where recruiters are invited to hire students. Many multinational companies like TCS, Wipro, Amazon, P360, Gemini, etc. recruits a large number of eligible students. Last year, a student from our institute achieved a package of 56 LPA. The average package is 7-8 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
No, our institute does not have residential facilities for the students but nevertheless there are PGs and rents available in around 500 meter outside the campus for the students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of our institute is quite large. We have a separate three-stored building, which is our central library. It has a variety of books of different genres. Our library is also equipped with the digital technology and has access to variety of novels and articles. We have a basketball court, a football ground, a badminton court, GYM and a games room that is equipped with table tennis board, carom board, and chessboard.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is quite peaceful here. There are a number of clubs that can be joined as per student’s interests such as chess club, coding club, cultural clubs for singing, dancing, drama club, etc. Our institute also organizes fests and programs for the students. Last month, our institute celebrated its silver jubilee closing ceremony. Our institute also organizes internal hackathons to nurture the creative minds of the students.

    Siliguri Institute of Technology provides different professional courses like B.Tech (CSE, CE, ECE, EE, AIML, IT, and Data Science), Hotel management, Hospitality Management, BBA, MBA, Nursing, B.Sc, Polytechnic Diploma, BCA, MCA, and more. Placements are very good as per other colleges in Siliguri. This year highest placement package was 51 LPA and average was 5-6 LPA.     Institution is very large and pleasant. Students will get enough resources and books and help from the faculty and other college members. Alumni are also very helpful and help in overall every matter. College is ragging and restriction free so you are free to enjoy but the curriculum is not that great and very outdated.     Siliguri Institute of Technology is already a reputed college in Siliguri. The Campus is large and well maintained. They have people allotted for all purposes which let the college maintain its purpose of providing good faculties and good Study Environment.
