Kirori Mal College B.Com Review By Ramaira Singh

North campus colleges of Delhi University are considered top-notch institutions in Delhi and even across the country. All students aspire to lead the life of a DU student. Being at Delhi University has shaped me into a responsible yet aware person. It has transformed me from a naive schoolgirl who knew little about the world to now being a self-aware young adult who knows how to tackle all situations. My overall experience at Kirori Mal has been nothing short of a roller coaster. At first, it was difficult to find my place in the college, but over time I got a hold on how to handle my life on campus academically and socially. I would recommend every student to at least apply to Delhi university if they want to learn about life outside of a classroom.

Academics at DU are very different from schools or even other private colleges. No one forces you to focus on academics. Professors won't summon you to attend classes or even give tests. So, the sole responsibility for your academic performance falls upon you. Since attendance in my college is not mandatory. Thus, if you're planning to go to Delhi University, you must prepare yourselves for the fact that you won't be answerable to anyone, and the trajectory of your career depends on you.

Professors at Kirori Mal have been professionally teaching for a very long time. Most of them are seniors and have traditional methods of teaching. They teach from what is written in the textbooks and talk about all relevant issues. Some teachers may have an outdated outlook on matters but most of our professors try to understand our generation's perspectives on global issues and hold discussions. However, all the professors are extremely supportive and even hold doubt sessions before examinations.

Yes, one of the biggest reasons why north campus colleges are considered to be the dream colleges of many students is because of their placement cells. Since DU colleges have a huge reputation all across India and it is very difficult to get admission in a college at Delhi University, most big companies and brands like the big 4s approach the placement cells of our college looking to recruit interns and full-time workers.

I am a Delhi resident, so I do not have any experience staying at hostels or PGs but one thing that surprises me the most about Kirori Mal is that it only has a boys' hostel. There is no accommodation for girls inside the campus. So, most of my female friends stay at PGs near the campus. Even the hostel at campus has average infrastructure and food facilities but the security is top-notch.

In truth, infrastructure is not one of the strengths of Kirori Mal, but it has basic facilities. There are separate academic buildings for STEM students and other students. It would be great if they install ACs as well. There is also a huge playground and a small area for cultural activities like theatre, dance, and music.

My overall campus life has been full of experiences. Every day is a new learning opportunity. You get to learn a lot of things beyond the classroom. Going to new places with my friends, visiting other colleges through my college societies and attending fests made life at KMC worth it. I joined all societies in my freshman year, learned so much, met new people, and through academic societies I'm able to comprehend what my corporate life will look like.
