In an overall view, my institute, NIT Rourkela, is a perfect university with an area of 1,200 acres including many more splendid scenic views and amazing water bodies. It also organises many events and fests like Cosmopolitan- The Multiethnic Fest, Innovation- The largest Technical Fest of Eastern India, Roots, Nitrutsav, etc. The environment inside the campus is brilliant and the atmosphere is clean.

In academic view, NIT Rourkela offers a wide range of programs across Undergraduate (B.Tech), Postgraduate (M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA and MA) and doctoral levels. The institute offers many core Engineering courses like Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mining, Biotechnology, Biomedical, Ceramic, Food Processing and Civil engineering. It also offers Integrated M.sc courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Life Science. The institute offers Integrated Dual Degree courses (4 years B.Tech + 1 year M.Tech) in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mining and Ceramic Engineering.

The faculty at the institute is generally well-regarded, with a diverse group across various departments who bring a mix of academic expertise, research experience and industry knowledge. Many professors hold doctorate degrees from renowned IITs, NITs and other National universities across India and also from renowned universities abroad. The professors are good, and their teaching style is unique and outstanding. They make the lectures and classes interactive to the students.

The institute holds a strong placement record. MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Tata Steel, PwC, Qualcomm, Infosys, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan are the top recruiters that frequently recruit from NIT Rourkela. Core companies for streams like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Metallurgy (e.g. L&T, Tata Steel, BHEL) also hire actively.

NIT Rourkela has a total of 12 hostels. 7 boys’ hostels, 3 girls’ hostels and 2 hostels for married students. The hostel rooms are good but a little bit smaller and congested. Every hostel offers some games and sports grounds like badminton court, volleyball court, Basketball court, table tennis, etc. The mess food is also good and tasty along with a wide range of items in the menu. They offer breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner with both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options.

The campus has well-equipped academic buildings with modern classrooms, seminar halls, and advanced laboratories for hands-on learning. Each department boasts state-of-the-art facilities for research and experimentation. The Biju Patnaik Central Library is a hub of knowledge, with over 70,000 books, journals and digital resources, alongside a comfortable study environment. High speed internet is available across the campus. The computer center is equipped with modern hardware and software for research and academic purposes. NIT Rourkela has also special grounds for Hockey, Football, Cricket, Badminton, Tennis, Athletics etc. It has a special Student Activity Centre (SAC) that hosts various cultural and extracurricular activities along with spaces for clubs.

In NIT Rourkela, Students experience an unforgettable campus life. It organises many fests like Cosmopolitan, Innovation, Nitrutsav, Roots etc. As for the clubs, there are four societies which are technical society, literary and Cultural society, film and Music Society and Games and Sports society. The Technical society consists of coding clubs, robotic clubs whereas the Literary and Cultural society includes debating, quiz clubs like Clarion etc. The film and music clubs consist of dance clubs like Synergy and Mavericks and music clubs like Heartbeats, Euphony, DNB, etc. There are some other clubs also like Ritvic, open mic etc. The game and sports society consists of game and sports clubs like chess, cricket, badminton, tennis, basketball, hockey, football, volleyball, etc.
