KIIT B.Tech Review By Meghna Halder

I have always been very much interested in Computer Science. I also have to know that the placements and everything in KIIT, i.e. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, especially in Computer Science, is great. Therefore, I went for it without any second thoughts and my parents allowed me as well. Now that I am here, I do not really regret my decision. It is a great institute. My experience here has been good. The faculty is good. The curriculum is good. The exams are going great. The institute is guiding us through the placements also. I think the mess charges, the hostels, the mess food, if you are staying in a hostel, is good here as well. We get transportation facilities also. Nowadays, we have cars to actually help us reach the campus from our hostels. It not only has good Computer Science branch, but also other branches are excellent as well.

If you are going for B.Tech, there are many branches available. Just this year, it has introduced more streams like Data Science, AI, and ML. The eligibility is the usual, i.e., you have to pass out of class 12th. It has its own exam, i.e., KIITEE exam for getting into the institute. You need to get a particular cut-off so that you can enroll for the course. You have to make the priority list for choosing this branch so that you can be allotted in the institute. The fee is around Rs. 23 Lakh, if I consider everything. The tuition fee is around Rs. 14 to 16 Lakh now.

Whenever somebody asks for the faculty review in KIIT, I always have good things to say about it. The faculty here is hardworking, honestly. The teachers try their very best to help students with the subjects. Because, as you know, as the years go by, the subjects get a little tough, but then again, the teachers really do guide you very well with the curriculum. They come from very good backgrounds. The teachers are mostly from IITs. They are very good with their teaching experience, good teaching experience, and highly qualified teachers. They know how to teach the students.

Yes, we do have a placement cell here and it is called the TNP cell, the training, and placement cell. This is the cell that really does help us with the on-campus placements. It sends us all kinds of internships and placement opportunities that are going around. We get many on-campus placements. It does guide us a lot as well. There is a career school as well, tied up with TNP, which provides us aptitude courses, and English courses, which is required for assistant jobs in the companies. It tries to prepare you for industry. If you do follow the classes and instructions well, you do develop good, by the time of placements.

The hostel facilities are very good here. It provide good infrastructure. It has good wardens who are helpful. In case of any issue or discomfort in the hostel, wardens take immediate action. If We have different type of rooms here with multiple combinations. If you are somebody who does have problems with ACs, then you can simply opt for non-AC rooms. We have two-bedded non-AC rooms. We also have three-bedded non-AC rooms. Similarly for AC ones too. We also have premium rooms where you have an attached bathroom with an AC with two beds. When we talk about hostels, we definitely have to talk about the mess food. The mess food is very good here. There is a variety of food. We get chicken, fish, etc. We also get good vegetarian food for the vegetarian people as well. The hostel infrastructure is good as well. There are not many worries. You are also safe in the hostel because security try their best to keep you safe.

The infrastructure is most popular thing about this institute. The academic blocks have ACs in every room. They are clean and hygienic. Our central library has huge number of books. It is such a beautiful sight to see our central library. We have departmental libraries. We have greenery around, there is no lack of nature and trees all around the campus. It is such a beautiful place to explore.

The campus life here is great as well. We have a fest in every single year. Singers like Jubin Nautiyal and many others are invited each year in this fest. Then there was a DJ Night in the fest named, ‘Nuclea’, which I recently attended. There are many clubs. If you are interested in extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, and many others. KIT is a sports hub as well. So if you are interested in sports, it does make sure that you get to a great position if you actually go for it. When it comes to clubs, you also options to choose painting club, dance club, cooking club, and what not. There is a big list of clubs over here. We have technical clubs if you are very much interested in coding. There is another club here that is women tech club. So if you really want to be with like-minded, same-gender people who are literally like your female friends, you can just go there, hang out. Overall, KIIT is a great place to learn, do projects, and also have fun. Campus life is great here.
