Student Life at IEM Kolkata: Events, Placements, and More

I heard about this institute as being one of the top private universities in the city, and thus applied for it. There is enough exposure in the form of numerous events throughout the year, whether it is a hackathon, tech-fest, or cultural fest. Overall, a great place if you want to achieve higher.

I am currently pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. People pursuing in this field are enthusiastic about computers and coding. If you are interested in coding, and have secured a decent percentage either in the institute’s own entrance exam, or cracked JEE Mains, then you can successfully enroll in this institute.

Faculty members here either use board, chalk-duster, or prepare slides to teach in an audio-visual manner. Not only do the faculties offer quality lectures, but we also get to interact with them optimally if any doubt occurs in any subject. They come from diverse backgrounds having a degree in History, Geography, English, etc. So, they can effectively prepare the students for competitive exams like UPSC and other government exams. They even have faculties teaching subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the students need to have basic concepts about these subjects.

Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata do have a placement cell and they do offer internship opportunities from companies. So, when the time occurs, the students can land a job in a company.

The campus has three buildings: B1, B2 and B3, each block having adequate amount of washrooms, drinking water facilities, lecture rooms and laboratories. The B1 and B2 buildings are five-storied, with the B1 building having the placement cell, the administrative office, cafeteria, two auditoriums, a uniform distribution cell, a research cell, a xerox centre, a store, etc. The B2 building has a huge air-conditioned library with internet facility and access to textbooks, reference books, journals and previous year question-papers. We also have a basketball court and a basement where there are table tennis & carom. The B3 building contains an air-conditioned auditorium where seminars frequently take place, and then we also have an observatory where the renowned astronomy club holds its sessions for future astronomers.

The campus also takes in students from BBA, Law, MBA, MCA, etc. People also participate in the Ph. D program; so, there are thousands of students entering every year. Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata have a prestigious quiz club which wins accolades throughout the year, and the coding club for the coding enthusiasts. There is sports club as well which hosts and also participates in various events throughout the year.
