Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University: A Beautiful Place to Study

Overall Rating
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is surrounded by Trikuta hills. This place offers a serene and peaceful environment for the students. The atmosphere of this university is refreshing and calming. Due to its location, the university has beautiful flora and fauna. It is a great place for learning and exposure.
 

Academics Rating
For Bachelor of Arts (English), the admission process is entirely based on the CUET scorecard of an individual. The curriculum of this course is updated and relevant to the need of time.
 

Faculty Rating
The professors of this university are great. They are helpful towards the students. They are polite and understanding. They co-operate with the students during exams and doubt sessions. Professors are qualified, knowledgeable, and well versed in their subject. They come from strong backgrounds. They make sure that students feel comfortable and validated.
 

Placement Rating
The chances of being placed in this university are low. The placement cell of this university needs to be more active and the members need to put more efforts in order to train the students with skills and knowledge, which are crucial for being placed.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, there are many girl’s and boy’s hostels in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Freshers can easily avail the hostel facility. There is no hassle in getting a hostel. The hostel rooms are well-furnished, spacious, and great place. However, the mess food and its quality can be improved.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is full of greenery and has many buildings. The campus has an academic block, an auditorium, and a library as well. The library has all offline as well online resources for students to get help. There are other buildings as well. Each department has its own building.
 

Campus Rating
There are no clubs around the campus. The campus is located at a very remote location. The students especially girls are not allowed to leave their hostels premises after 7 or 8 PM for safety reasons.

    I am a B.Tech student studying in CSE, 2nd year in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. I choose S.M.V.D.U. because it is the only university in Jammu and Kashmir which provides placements with a decent package. Also, the infrastructure is very good. The university provides all sorts of facilities to the students including hostel mess, free Wi-Fi and all other things which are necessary for the students.     All in all, the university is great for studying and preparing for GATE and many other competitive exams. Students are encouraged by the faculty for the same too. The venue might be a little discouraging in terms of job opportunities, because it's in Katra but still, the university is pretty decent with its placements. Still personally, I like the venue and the environment here, it's healthy. So all in all, it's a great and peaceful university to attend, with decent future opportunities.... Read Full Review

    My overall experience here is neutral. Everything here is just average or a little above average. The location of the college is in a very remote area. It is very difficult as the transportation is very scarce. You literally have to wait for two straight hours or more to catch the local matadors which leave you at the nearest highway from where you can catch the bus to nearest towns or cities like Jammu, Udhampur or Katra.
