SRM University B.Sc Review By Choudhary Tanu

I started my SRM journey in the year 2019. I had great experience throughout my 3 years of course in the university. The most attractive part for me about the university was course, which was available only in few universities around the nation. The students there as well as the faculties in the university are amazing. The campus was very beautiful and a peaceful place. It was very close to nature hence infrastructure was amazing. The buildings are of glass with blue porch, which is amazing and attracts everybody, making you feel very close to the nature. The university has plenty of plants and grass grounds throughout the campus. The number of students is not much in each class, which leads to special care and attention to the students on the particular topics of discussion. Each student is well taught as well as the knowledge given to the student is based on the theoretical as well as the practical of the subject. The university timings were 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The campus is very beautiful and you should visit the campus for its infrastructure as well as the knowledge of the teachers. Various clubs and activities are also there in the campus along with multiple sports activities were also taken care. Interesting thing about the university is that they have started a National Cadet Corps Camps as well as opportunity for the students in NSS also. Various conferences as well as workshops are also organized by the campus which is amazing attractive part about the campus.

I had pursued specialization in Mathematics (Hons.). The course includes detailed theoretical and practical application of Mathematics into the subjects. For the entrance into the course, you must have percentage of 60% in the final exams in 10+2. There is a special requirement to have studied Mathematics in your 11th and 12th grade. Any student of the stream Science Commerce and Arts can enroll for the course if they have Mathematics as an additional subject. The motive of enrolling this course is to love Math and want to pursue your career in math in any source and theoretical knowledge of the concept. I personally was a huge fan of this subject and wanted to continue my career in this field. The academics here are taken under good care. It had a very well planned curriculum, which was helpful for the completion of entire syllabus as well as detailed explanation of each topic and detailed questions solving for particular topic as well as chapters. Practical demonstration of each subject is also done on a larger scale and the theoretical concepts are cleared on a larger scale with various examples from the syllabus as well as entrance level exams. Various tests are taken for knowledge implementation of students and to check how much they have learnt until now.

The faculties are experienced and expertise into their particular subjects of knowledge. They have studied from well-known universities around the nation such as IIT. Teachers are very well qualified with a vast knowledge in the subject and a detailed degree holding to the particular subject. Teachers are from the same background as the course they are teaching they are the specialized for the particular subjects they are given for the teaching part. Their style of imparting education is remarkable. Firstly, theoretical knowledge has been provided to students for particular topic and later practical knowledge is also implemented and ending it with providing special questions for a sample mock test for the exams and then detailed answer discussion is wind an after each and every class.

The placement cell is not huge as well there are not much placement for my particular course. The reason for this can be the fact that industrial implications of this subject are not much so there are not much industrial jobs. Students have been place as a teacher. However, the placement rate is not much. Majority of the students move forward to pursue Masters as students can have chance to make career in industry too. Few famous institutions were there for teaching jobs so they have taken students with them.

Yes, there is residential facility in SRM University for both girls and boys. The campus has two hostels for girls and one for boys, respectively. Each hostel has approximately 11 floors. The first basic thing required the fee that is 1.5 LPA. A double sharing room is been provided to the students living in the hostel. The infrastructure is amazing. AC facilities are available in the hostel. Mess food is also included in the hostel fee structure. Four-course meal is provided, which includes morning breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner. Laundry facilities are also available. Amenities in the rooms include fan, lights, mirror, bed, cupboard, table, chair, heater, etc. Hostels are amazing and are cleaned every day. So accommodation is very good if any student is looking for a university with hostel facility.

The campus is spread in wide area (in acres). It starts with a huge gate. In front of this main gate of SRM University, there are two buildings, which are new and built in past 2 years as it has grown throughout the years. Those buildings are specially for Engineering department, as well as for other courses. Then walking towards left, we have a huge administration block, which has all the financial as well as university admission processes into the university. Before that, we have a Law block in which all the law courses are being pursued. This block also has an auditorium as well as moot court. Right to Law block at the back, we have huge buildings, which are for hostels. Then to the left of the administration block, we have a huge garden. In addition, right to the garden we have a blue tinted building, which was earlier for engineering block and now, will be for other with approximately 5 floors provided with 6 lifts. Then left to the garden, we have a cafeteria that provides food and snacks. Left to the cafeteria, we have Hotel Management block as well as library, which is beautiful the library has special accommodation for computers and students can easily use them for in their mean time. At the back of the hotel management block, we have a room and warehouse workshop for engineering students especially for Mechanical Engineering. Left to the Hotel Management block, there are two gardens on both sides. In front of them, we have the hospital of the campus as OPD. there is huge ground for sports activities taking place in the campus as well as fest organization in that open area which acquires more than 20000 students. There is also the sports room, which has all the sports equipment. There is special football as well as volleyball ground along with basketball court and NCC fire shooting wall. A stage has been built at the back of hospital for any functions and occasions. There is bus parking with includes 20 buses. All these things are connected with a two-lane road on each side throughout the campus. In addition, to the right of the entrance of the campus, we have a temple that is beautiful and parking for cars.

The campus life at SRM University is wonderful. It is not a huge university, so almost everybody interacts with each other, which leads to have better connection and enjoyment during the functions. The crowd is really friendly and amazing as everybody comes from a polite decent background. There are various clubs such as dance, drama, singing, anchoring, literature, architecture, drawing, etc. You can easily join any of clubs through the audition process, which is very easy, and everybody can be the part of the club. Fest is been usually done once, which is ‘Iyer’ for two days in which there are various stalls as well as dance performances, comedy show, acting dramas, and ramp walks. A celebrity is invited the second day for live concert. The campus also has various other activities throughout the year like Sangathan and Samavesh, which are for sports activities like volleyball, cricket, football, basketball, Tug of War, Kabaddi etc.
