Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology B.Tech Review By Mohammad Kaif

Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) have sent a benchmark for all engineering colleges in Haryana. The college is great and has held on to the number one engineering college for many years now. To get admissions, XII marks may help but to get CSE JEE Rank plays a significant role. The fees was also reasonable as four lakhs for B. Tech, if compared to other private colleges, is quite less. For those who got placements through campus recovering that will not take more than a year. However, the college is open for many scholarship programs for the students who can’t afford the fees. If you come from a lesser privileged background, you can apply for scholarship and the college will have a look on some of the criteria, if you fit in that, you are through for a scholarship. The college also gives cash reward and prizes to the students who does academically well here. This initiative of the college has made me the college’s number one fan.

The college academics are as per the Kurukshetra University. The university course structure is not that great but this is where PIET stands out as they have included some extra books for their curriculum. So, the university doesn't have entire control on the academics. Yes, in exams it's all the course content but for those who need to learn, the college has made it done by adding extra material which is out of the university syllabus. For better learning and grow, the institute has started a SIC (Startup Incubation Center) at the campus. So, the learning at the campus was no less than of IITs or other top colleges as the college has kept up with all the latest that is happening in the world of engineering.

Good faculties are essential for any institute to rank and now you know the reason why college ranks among the top. I can say a lot of things about them but one thing that comes within is the respect for them. Their skills and helpful nature have not just made me their fans but an admirer to be honest. No kind of partiality was shown on the basis of differences that prevail in our country. I don’t think I need to say more as faculty of PIET were better than the best.

One is mass placement and one is quality placement. How about if those two things come together. Well at PIET, it does. Now 70% placement among so many students, I would call it par. Now coming to the quality, all the top companies that can cater to Computer Science students has seen PIET as a place to be. Amazon, Oracle, Adobe, Wipro, Cognizant, and others have constantly made their way to the college. Additions keep on happening but no deductions as the graph of placement has only gone up.

Being a local resident, hostel part was not for me. All the engineering colleges I feel should keep a residential rule because engineering requires a hostel life to be led otherwise a lot of things are left behind. However, just because of hostel, I went to Kerala and had a nightmare. Well, will discuss that in other review, coming to the hostel, the college has done a bit of partiality here as the boys' hostel capacity was four times that of girls' hostel. When it comes to girl education, Haryana is very poor and institute like PIET has to stand up and take the initiative to build large space for girls and provide them hostel facilities for free so that they can bless PIET forever.

There are plenty of blocks at the campus but most of them similar to each other. The sign board of the departments is at the top and therefore it becomes difficult to spot them. Every lecture occurred in classrooms are recorded and there’s a studio room where you can attend the missed lecture or can take the recording along. The labs were all functional and laced with latest technology provided by giant IT companies who are also a recruiter at PIET. The college canteen was amazing as I never used to carry my lunch box but rather had at the canteen with my friends as Thali that cost 60 bucks offered more than what I could expect.

Firstly, the campus supports no ragging and Anti-Ragging boards can be seen at a few places. Seniors never showed any superior attitude on juniors as all students were treated equally in the eyes of management. To maintain peace which is tough in a state like Haryana, literally bouncers have been appointed to stop any eve teasing or fights that did occurred at the campus. Now the college takes complete care in taking care of our teenaged life by organizing two most prestigious events like MAESTROS and CARBUNCLE.
