IIT Kharagpur was established in the year 1951, It is the 1st IIT, hence now known as the ‘Mother of all IITs’. The best part (leaving academics) is its huge green campus having area of about 2100 acres. It is divided into various parts having halls (hostels), academic area, sports ground, football and cricket grounds, lakes, night canteens, etc. The vibe of the campus will surely please you. It is so quiet and you can have quality time at the lakeside. I chose this institute because of huge availability of courses, great professors, placements, best hall culture, and Illumination (must see just search for it).

As a UG student, you need to qualify JEE Advance to enter this admission and you will get branch according to your rank. After enrolling in any branch, you have option to choose different branch course as electives or you can do minor/micro in it and that will be shown in your degree. Here you are not just limited to your branch. There are so many opportunities to learn and grow.

Faculties are top graded. They all are super intelligent have great experiences and are mostly very friendly with the students, you can just go to them any time ask your queries they will be happy to answer it. They keep pushing you to do something new and encourage you to look for new things. Faculties are just awesome.

In IIT KGP, there is a separate body known as CDC. Its task is to train you before internship or placement. It will be giving you all required information in it. Placements are good. Almost every big company come for placements.

Here in IIT KGP, hostels are called Halls. Life is best in these halls. You will meet almost every type of student. Seniors are so friendly. All the required facilities are provided like play ground, basketball court, badminton court, GYM, music room, TV room, common room, etc. Infrastructure of halls depends on which hall you have been allotted. Some halls are newly made so they are top notch whereas other are old so they are good. Culture in these halls plays important role here.

Academic blocks are located around the iconic main building. The atmosphere is so good. You will see uniquely designed buildings. There is a Nalanda complex specified for classes that can accommodate around 30k students at a time.

Campus life is great enjoyable. You will never feel left behind people here are so good. Here, there is more than 30 societies, clubs, etc. Students have wide option to choose from. There are 3 fests: Shaurya sports fest generally in October or November. ‘Kshitij’ is the techno-management fest generally in January. Then there is an iconic Spring fest.
