Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, as great as the name sounds, it is actually one of the top five private institutes for engineering in Bhopal. I chose this institute as it offers various branches including the core branches and the specialization branches as well.

I am a 3rd year student enrolled in Computer Science and with specialisation in Data Science. This branch teaches you about how you can analyse the data and make decisions based on that analysis. The other core branches are also great, like Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering but you will see most students trying to opt for Computer Science. To enroll as a B.Tech student at Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, you need to complete your 12th with physics, chemistry and mathematics, and appear for the JEE examination. Based on your overall score, you will have to go through the admission process. Getting admission here is easy.

Talking about the faculty, to be very honest the faculty is great as they are full of knowledge and are willing to teach you whatever you want to learn from them but, the only thing you will see is that there are very few professors who are working with the institute for years and most of the faculties are new and young but that does not mean they are not good at teaching. Teachers don't stress you out unnecessarily, but they require their work to be done on time for assignments and lab files.

There is a Placement Cell, and they try to start polishing you from the first year itself with different CRT classes (i.e. Campus Recruitment Training). You learn to work on your coding skills, communication skills and various different aspects required for your placement.

There are girls’ and boys’ hostels which are present inside the campus. There are 2 girls’ hostels and 1 boys’ hostel. Both of the hostels have similar infrastructure, but boys’ hostels have a badminton court as well. The residential facilities are good, spacious rooms and bathrooms are also clean. The mess is not something hostellers are a big fan of, but the food is not that bad, it is mostly good. Hostellers also gather together on every occasion for parties and the wardens have a helping nature. If you stay in the hostel, you can get an out pass for the day, but you have to return before 8:30 pm.

The building is great with a massive entry to the institute. There are different blocks but all are well-connected with each other. The classes are spacious and there are many Computer labs for each department including each for basic science, chemistry, physics and language. The buildings are beautiful and that is why many movies and shows have been shot in this building.

Campus life is beautiful during the fests. They are quite enjoyable and continue for 3-4 days. DJ nights and Hackathon are also organised. The sports also take place side by side which are really fun to be a part of. Apart from fests, other festivals are also celebrated like Navratri, Special Garba Nights.
