IIPS B.Com Review By Vijayanka Verma

IIPS is famous for its integration or PG programs, but unfortunately, I joined B.Com (Hons) here. The institute does have a competitive environment but not for us. If the institute was not serious, they shouldn't have started the graduate program. What has been done is a thing of the past now as I moved on from it long back. So, if you are a nerd, don't join IIPS. However, if you are someone who wants a cool and fun college life where there is no pressure of attendance or go bang bang in fests, then my friends, IIPS is the ideal college for you. You will definitely make all your local friends from Indore jealous for sure if you are studying at IIPS. Now the placement scenario is such that we saw every other program students were placed and we just saw those happy faces as B.Com (Hons) is, anyways an ignored course of IIPS.

The timings are lovely as 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm, and we were done. I don't think I could have asked for more because firstly the attendance is not that strict and secondly the timings of the college is such that we anyways burn that time so why not go to college and learn something. For learning, the college was decent as the classes were always fun without the teachers, though as they made a simple graduate degree so challenging that even B. Com looked like we are doing an MBA.

I have titled them as unprofessional as they would always compare us with BBA + MBA integrated course children. If we were same level, haven't we joined that course. We were pretty average and that is why we joined B. Com. However, I would like to thank them as they shared the success stories of many MBA students of the college and that inspired me to concentrate fully in competitive exams as I never went to college in the final year. The faculties also didn't care as they were happy teaching 20 students in a class that had strength of 120 students. Our faculty doubled our workload as they gave us projects which were not a part of B. Com. However, to ensure we maintain good numbers in internals, we had to obey all their commands.

IIPS placements are best in Indore but not for B. Com (Hons). So, if you wish to get a decent placement, you can join any integrated course at IIPS, and you will never regret it. I had some friends who were doing BBA + MBA, and they all are working at some MNCs. IIPS for that should be given its due credit but the poor course of the college B. Com (Hons) students couldn't find any single company who showed interest in them. Poor we but no worries as at least the college showed us the way that how important it is to do an MBA for placements.

IIPS believes in equality I guess, and that is why there were 3 hostels each for boys and girls. All the hostels had different names like one of the boy’s hostels was named Rabindra Nath Boys Hostel. I don't remember the other two hostel names, but I do remember the two girls' hostel names and they were Kamla Nehru Girls Hostel and C.V. Raman Girls Hostel. There was one more, though, but I can't recall that hostel's name. Outsiders were not allowed, but one can enter the hostels and even stay at the hostels on request. The hostels were quite amazing as if I wasn't from Indore, I would have loved a stay here.

IIPS campus is hot as it had mostly everything double. From two libraries to two computer labs. The academic complex had everything from a seminar room to a beautiful auditorium to a student reading area. Oh, I forgot to mention about the beautiful classrooms on the block. The entire campus was lush green, only the muddy ground needed to be a grass bank because participating in the intra sports meet called Synergy was compulsory and playing in that outfield meant hours and hours of bath and hair wash. The infrastructure doesn't have any nooks whatsoever.

To enjoy a great campus life, go nowhere but come straight to IIPS. The sports meet I have already mentioned so now will mention about the college's cultural fest XPRESSION. Many textile companies sponsor the event and so students who have got some swag presented their clothes through a ramp walk which was arranged at the auditorium of the campus. This was the beginning of the party as for the next two days the campus would remain open 24*7 and students can dance and have fun as much as they want. This was the main fest but engineering and MBA students had their own fest and that too was no less.
