When it comes to girls’ colleges people only talk about Gargi College or Lady Shri Ram College. Well, KNC is not far behind as like all colleges of Delhi, KNC too have its share of minuses and pluses. One issue with KNC is outsiders hardly know this college. When people search the web, they will only see all South Campus Colleges but not KNC. I will blame the substandard network of the alumni. As a woman who passed out from here is taking the first step in addressing this issue. One reason why people think that KNC is uneventful is because it’s a girl’s college. Well from my experience, I can proudly say that KNC was quite eventful as college elections win or lose key was always with KNC. It may sound many nuts but KNC effect made the women out of me. All in all, what I want to say is that the college will teach the girls to be ambitious.

Academics at KNC can be called a smooth sail because attendance was not so strict. Students can engage themselves in group studies as seniors and ex alumni support was immense. Not just the studies but academics at KNC was more of a life lesson because DU syllabus remains the same whether you are in LSR or St. Stephens. The quality of teaching at KNC was in my books the best. So academically, I can easily vouch for KNC as they haven’t taken any wrong step in promoting the education not just through books but with practical learning as well.

Faculty are the reason of making a college substandard or great. KNC faculty has made this college great because they understand that as a fresher who have come out of boards don’t want to touch the books immediately. So, the first month was totally fun with our faculties as they made us play games, get to know each other know about life goals and how to pursue them. However, once they became serious then they will make you attend classes and go to library frequently. One can easily befriend them but the only way to do that is by indulging in serious studies.

This is a problem in general as every DU colleges promises a lot but don’t even deliver peanuts against it. KNC placement cell needs a special mention as they arranged many off-campus placement drive and many students even got placed with a salary of 20-30k a month. For B.Com (Hons) the figures are great as even the fresher’s engineers get around 30-40k a month. At campus though, there were hardly any placements.

I thought for over ten minutes to count the number of students who came from other places to study at KNC. Trust me; I can count them on fingers, so having a hostel for no reason doesn’t make a sense. The college therefore does not provide any hostel facility. Girls can arrange on their own as finding a property to stay in Delhi is one of the easiest thing one can do.

The college is nested in one of the poshest areas of New Delhi. The college looks normal as it is same as most of the Delhi colleges with a red coloured building and a small parking on the left-hand side of the main gate. There are three buildings inside the campus and the main building had a nice canteen at the ground floor. The admin building had the library and auditorium inside it. There’s a small little area allotted for playing but it was mostly used to decorate the stage for functions and the famous KNC Chaupal. The ambience from inside is serene as the college is surrounded by a pink wall and a lot of trees. The road next to the college was quite busy and in terms of good eateries there was only a single outlet of Keventers close to the college.

KNC’s intra-election was the main highlight of campus life. Even if you don’t know the candidates, you will be sticking the posters of them in and around the college. One can learn many political tactics at KNC as college is quite active with all the major elections. Even if there’s election in Tamil Nadu, we used to have discussions and debates on which government should come. Finally, the college fest Nexus is another top story of the campus life. Yes, it wasn’t done of a very high scale but we were always excited to be a part of college fests.
