Experiencing MAMC, New Delhi from a perspective of an undergraduate student

Overall Rating
Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) is one of the most prestigious institutes of the country. I am currently in 3rd year of pursuing MBBS, and I am thoroughly enjoying the college life while balancing academics and extracurricular activities. MAMC provides vast exposure to the budding doctors, adding a prestigious name in your resume. Being in the heart of the capital city and close to many other prestigious colleges, your journey through MBBS will be a memorable one.
 

Academics Rating
Academics are the strongest point of MAMC. Qualified and experienced faculties and doctors are always willing to lend a hand to clear any doubts you have. High amount of patient influx also means you will have a variety of cases and treatments as a practical way to get a hands-on learning experience. Regular but fairly lenient exams will keep you regularly invested in studies while being relatively stress free.
 

Faculty Rating
Each faculty member has a unique style of teaching. Some teach through interactive discussions and PPT presentations while others go the old school way of a chalk and blackboard. One thing is for sure that such a variety in teaching and testing will aid in better understanding of basic concepts and clinical correlations of the students.
 

Placement Rating
Hospital postings start from 2nd year itself and quite rigorous internship period with a handsome stipend gives proper exposure early on. This really helped me with my clinical subjects.
 

Hostel Rating
Your hostel life is what you will remember forever. Festival celebrations, college fests and interactions with other batches are the USP of hostel life. While the infrastructure is quite old and most of facilities like badminton court, Table Tennis, Basketball court, etc. are limited to one hostel; it is free to access any time for anyone.
 

Infrastructure Rating
College campus is not so big but not congested either. It is filled with trees and greenery with different blocks like Mortuary, Pathology Block, and Anatomy Block, among others close to each other. Having lived here almost 3 years, it feels like home. While the buildings themselves are fairly old been made in the 1960s, the machines for diagnostics are up to standards.
 

Campus Rating
Being in a batch of 250 students, it's impossible to know everyone, but living in hostel you create some kind of bond with every hosteller, especially your roommates and immediate seniors. Our college has an Annual Fest "Synapse" which is conducted around October. Star night is great, but the best part is enjoying with everyone during midnight at Nescii (a place to hangout for everyone). There are societies for dancing, music, sports, fashion, drama, literature, etc. and pretty much everything you would like to do along with your studies.

    I scored 680 marks out of 720 in NEET exam and was given the choice of choosing between Maulana Azad Medical College and Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College Delhi. I chose Maulana Azad Medical College Delhi over Vardhman Mahavir Medical College Delhi, because of the rich history it boasts and has more experienced faculty.
