After getting my WBJEE rank my first college allotted was Heritage Institute of Technology. After that I got Kalyani Government Engineering College and University of Calcutta respectively but Jadavpur University was an obvious choice for me when I got admission into it during its decentralized counseling. In Heritage Institute of Technology I got Computer Science and Engineering. In Kalyani Government Engineering College I got Electrical Engineering and in University of Calcutta I got Information Technology but this entire college placement is not comparable with Jadavpur University Civil Engineering at all in terms of fees and placement. You have to score at least under 3000 rank to get this dream university.

In my degree Civil Engineering there are topics like Construction Management, Structural Mechanics, Theory of Structure, Design of Structure, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environment Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Thermodynamics, Valuation Pricing and Costing as well as Fortran Language Programming, etc. All of these subjects are taught very well. Some of the syllabus is backdated and need to be revised. Even the department organizes an academic tour to an industrial area for overall exposure to the industry that helps the students. In case of teaching method the proper sync between board work and PPT needs to be done by the classroom professors. The total class size is 126. And the total course fees are 10,100 rupees.

The faculty members in my department have Ph.D from either Jadavpur University or the Indian Institute of Technology. The teacher’s student ratio is average. The research exposure in this university is very good. There are some professors of our university who are in listed in the top 2% researchers list published by Stanford University. In my department we have to give two class tests following by a semester examination that means total three examinations in one semester. Apart from that we have to give lab report submission and viva for the sessional and laboratory classes. The difficulty level of the classes and exam depends upon the preparation. It can be moderate to hard for an average student. In case of civil engineering the course curriculum rotates around construction of building bridges. Transportation system as well as it encompasses around environmental engineering and water resources.

The placement scenario of Jadavpur University is remarkable over the year. In case of 2023, the branches like Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electronic and Computer Science Engineering showed 100% placement where as my department Civil Engineering showed 97.5% placements. IT companies, consultancy companies as well as score and noncore companies visit our campus if someone wants to get his dream job there is a high chance that he would get the job on campus if he work hard and have a good CGPA.

Residential hostel is available in Jadavpur University. The main hostel is 1 km away from the main campus. Both accommodation for boys and girls are available. In case of girls hostel it is available inside the campus. For boys, hostel is 1 km away from the campus.

Being a state funded University with a very low amount of fees the infrastructure of Jadavpur University can't be expected to be top notch. But it is well enough for undergraduate students with all laboratory facilities, huge playground, lots of canteens and classrooms with adequate amount of toilets. There is availability of gymnasium, open air theatre as well as multiple auditoriums inside the campus.

The campus life of Jadavpur University can't be removed from someone's memory once he or she takes admission into it. Due to presence of all three faculties that are Engineering. Science and Arts the campus festivals and Technical events are huge in size and capacity. There is an open air theatre and lots of auditoriums in the university. Also there is a huge play ground and 7 canteens that make the 55 acres campus to be an enjoyable one. The annual cultural fest is known as a Sanskriti and the annual techno management fest is known as Srijan. Apart from that there are lots of clubs in Jadavpur University like science club, Motor Sports Club, Aerospace club, and more.
