If you are from another state then living in Bangalore is quite hard in the beginning. The food is sometimes a problem. As a Maharashtrian, though I love having South Indian food on Sunday mornings, I cannot eat it daily. But over time you get used to it. Bangalore being an IT hub, that's why I chose to pursue engineering in IT field at BIT. It is known for its good education and placement. There is an entrance exam to get into BIT; it is taken in two parts. You have to clear both the steps to secure your seat. O felt the entrance is more tough than actual 4 years of engineering. Phew, but I got it. After getting into college, forget about holidays completely. You won't get any.

BIT prepares its students academically by regular tests. Couple of weeks goes by and there will be tests again. You have to be prepared for them and score well. Make good friends and keep them close if you want to have all the notes and be updated. Teachers help too if you don't understand any topic but running to a friend feels more comfortable. IT requires constant learning because there are almost daily updates in technology. And practicals are the most important part of any field of engineering because at the end of the day it's all field work. You have to apply the knowledge you gained into your work. Be ready for hours and hours of lectures followed by also long practicals.

Teachers are helpful but strict at the same time. There is no chance they'll make you understand once more if you don't get it the first time. My advice is 'be alert during classes'. Because teachers there like to shock students with surprise tests every now and then, so be updated with your studies. Teachers are good though, well educated and experienced. Everyone has their own teaching style, different from others. You get to learn a lot from each of them.

BIT is famous for its placement opportunities. Many reputed companies are called upon for recruitment. Not every student will get a placement, but if you have given your 100% in your studies and have worked hard then no one can stop you from getting selected in one of the companies. Each department has its own scope for recruitment. Bangalore being famous for its IT sector, IT students are exposed to more opportunities. You can always try by applying to different companies on your own if you didn't get the placement. That is also a way to learn more and be self dependent.

Hostel facilities are not provided inside the campus of BIT college. It is a couple of kms away from college and I have to use public transport to travel between. My experience of staying in a hostel was good apart from traveling from college to hostel. Hostel building is big and has all the facilities included inside. The market is also nearby so it's easier if you need anything. It would have been more convenient to students if the hostel was also on the college campus. Those who don't want to travel; the college area has many apartments which you can get on rent. The hostel rules are strict too. No outsiders allowed inside the hostel perimeter.

The college has 2 buildings which are really quite huge as it is almost 5-6 storeys each. Classes for bachelors are conducted on the 2nd and 3 floors. The ground floor is reserved for PG classes. The classes and labs are well maintained and cleaned a couple of times every week. This Is the main reason the campus area and college building looks pleasant and clutter free. You can taste every South Indian dish in a BIT college canteen. Who doesn't love South Indian food? I enjoyed the food in the canteen as the food was awesome at a very cheap rate.

BIT has a campus like any other colleges, though not that big and flashy. The rules of college are very strict about almost everything; some of the rules really feel like restrictions. College campus has everything but not a proper playground. Many students from different parts of the country come to BIT for the sake of good education and placement. It's like mini India, people from different regions and cultures studying together. One has to be determined when choosing the course of your passions, that's all it takes at the end.
