It is an INI and 3rd best institute in West Bengal overall. As a 3rd year student, I can definitely say the institute has transformed me to the core. The institute stands at par with prominent research institutes of the country. It has excellent research culture, which is one of the strong points of this institute. Apart from it, a plethora of cultural fests are an undeniable part of the institute’s legacy. The median package is 14-15 LPA and highest package is 55 LPA. The alumni of the institute are well established throughout the world, and they also provide scholarships (GAABESU) to the needy and meritorious students.

The institute provides UG (B.Tech and B.Arch), PG (M.Tech, MBA, and M.Sc) and Ph.D courses. JEE Mains rank of less than 30-40k is sufficient to get you a decent branch (B.Tech / B.Arch) at the institute (you can always change branch after 1st year). The institute provides the provision of Fee Waiver (Tuition fee gets waived on basis of Family Income), one of the things that allowed me to study despite high education costs. Once you enter the institute, you will realize how real engineering is done. You will learn the essence of engineering and be a good engineer. The curriculum will challenge you to be your best.

The entire faculty is excellent and highly qualified in their domains. They do commendable research work and are quite approachable. They are always willing to help the students and solve their doubts and queries whenever required. I mean, they are literally providing their best to make the students a better engineer for tomorrow. In some cases, due to their strictness, you may feel dejected, but they are doing all these for students good only.

Our institute has Internship Training and Placement Cell, which well coordinates the requirements for various incoming companies. They are really helpful and approachable. The only drawback is that still now the college offers 2 months internship only, which might be a problem for some. The placement stats are quite good.

The hostels are quite old and mess food is above average. On some occasions, special arrangements are made. In total, 16 Boys Hostels and 3 Girls hostels are there. The girl’s hostels are much bigger and grander than the boy’s ones. A new state of the art 1000 seater Hostel is currently under construction, which will nearly solve all accommodation problems that the students are facing currently.

The institute infrastructure is quite old but constantly under renovation and construction. The main building is quite old. There is new 8 storeyed SNT building in which 1st year UG classes are held. The Library is a huge one (Ramanujan Central Library), where you can study from morning till late night here. It has huge amount of study resources, enough to fulfill Ph.D research. We have the Iconic Clock Tower, 2 huge grounds (Lords and Oval), a large gym, a swimming pool, 4 floor amenities building, 3 canteens, research labs, lecture hall complex, 2 beautiful lakes, etc.

The campus is quite large and lush green (112 acres). You will experience nature to the fullest here. We have many clubs and societies like CodeIIEST-Coding Society, Literary society, DEBSoc (Debating Society), Robo Darshan, Reflexobeta (Dance and Music), Vivekananda Youth Club, Art and Craft (SCAGE), and many more. We host the biggest technical fest of Kolkata that is known as INSTRUO. All the departments host their respective Technical fests. 80+ year old Annual Cultural fest “REBECA” is the waiting moment for all of us throughout the year. Overall, you can be pretty much engaged in everything apart from academics.
