Lingaya's Vidyapeeth M.Tech Review By Shahrukh Khan

Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth is one of the most famous institutes in our region. If I put it up bluntly, it was the university's infrastructure that made me come here. Placements and all are better of ABES and other institutes which were much closer to my place. Lingaya was more out of curiosity, but I am glad that I became curious, or else I would have missed out on a wonderful campus life that Lingaya offers. M. Tech at Lingaya offers just two specializations: computer science and civil. The course and all of almost all the colleges are the same. Still, the differentiator with Lingaya is that if anyone shows interest out of syllabus, the college immediately provides us with facilities and resources for development. The university overall is student-friendly, where student's opinions and words matter. New ideas are always welcomed, and the institute has made a corpus called Nivesh for those engineering students who want to do something productive in their lives rather than just picking 9 to 5 jobs.

Firstly, the university fees are quite less as M. Tech is a costly course. Some students who had to do some research have made the university invest more in them than what they paid in the fees. Moving on from fees, the classrooms where we had to study. ACs today has become a common thing, so I will boast the other facilities rather than boasting about it. While the teachers are teaching, we too had to keep our laptop on, and therefore, the classrooms had as many charging points as the number of students accommodated in the classrooms. For me, it was a shocker as I have never seen such academic facilities elsewhere.

If I say that faculty were the best part of the university, then trust me, I am not boasting yet. Apart from their teaching experiences, they have also worked in leading tech companies globally. IBM, SAP, Oracle, TCS, DXC, etc. You name it, and you will find the faculty who have worked in all these companies at Lingaya. Their help in an adverse situation comes to the fore when chips are down. They are not passive people when it comes to research, and therefore, they too invest equally in student's projects. All in all, they provided us with the best possible learning.

Let's be fair and then evaluate this part. If I leave out IITs and NITs, no engineering college in India has a 100% placement record. Lingaya has maintained a track record of 80% placement for M. Tech. The rate is 50% for B.Tech but for M. Tech, its 80. Lingaya invited nearly 20 odd companies in their placement drive, which lasted for two months. Generally, most colleges do it for a week or two, but at Lingaya it was extended from August to October. The companies checked the skill sets required and offered jobs in the range of 5-7LPA. It's more than any other college in the region. ABES might be ahead, but then getting admissions there is also that tough.

Lingaya has on-campus hostel, but it's pretty small. Even if they expand their capacity thrice, it will be running at full capacity. One just has to look at the hostel and admire it because many Indian families don't have the kind of rooms that the hostel of Lingaya provides. Nonhostellers were permitted inside the rooms, but the mess was not allowed to them. Some students who were hardcore non-vegetarian food lovers had issues with the food as the mess served a pure veg meal.

Infrastructure was way beyond satisfactory. Infrastructure has ensured that students will not be deprived of any top facilities at Lingaya. Along with campus, even the hostels are fully Wi-Fi supported. The campus has enough greenery as it is of great help to escape the summers. There are multiple libraries on the campus. Apart from books, novels, research papers, and magazines are easily available there. All the modern types of machinery are there in the classroom, making it the most comfortable place to come and have a ball. The canteen was so so, but the sporting facilities were excellent. Apart from a lavish playground, the campus has two swimming pools. One for college students and one is for hostel students.

Book learning was the only practice at the campus, and students were encouraged to get involved in projects as much as they could. Extracurricular activities were galore as all students had enough opportunities to prove their mettle in their skills. Tech fest was good, but the cultural fest ZEST was the most amazing one. We were given free space to do all that we wanted ten days before the fest. The campus life at Lingaya was way better than I expected.
